Nike have unlocked the leather lab once more, welcoming in the current lineup of Mercurial, Tiempo, and the all new Phantom GT for a limited edition party of pure desirability. And as a point of difference for this year’s Tech Craft, a orange soleplates and white details have been added across what is a uniform look for the trio.

The release of Nike’s Tech Craft pack is always something to get excited about; its limited edition done absolutely right, and this year’s offering is no different. Where last year’s collection only featured the Mercurial and Phantom VNM, this year Nike take their three leading lo-cut silhouettes – including a debut for the Phantom GT – and carefully transform them into traditional touches of class, beautifully created with layers of leather for a combination of the most advanced Nike innovations wrapped in a look and feel of heritage style.

The Tech Craft class of 2020 are all suited up in a look that pays homage to the original Nike Tiempo from the 1994 World Cup – the place where it really all kicked off (excuse the pun) for Nike in football. As a result, white details pop throughout the pure black of the K-leather uppers, most notably on the heel of all three silos where the ‘Nike’ wording appears, a callout that’s appeared many times over the years but that was lifted straight from the OG ’94 boot.

Each boot features its own signature style of Swoosh, with the smaller Swoosh on the heel of the Phantom GT joined by an outline on the forefoot. The Mercurial Vapor XIII then boasts that signature lightning Swoosh outline that stands out all the more for being white on black, while the Tiempo Legend VIII sticks with the elongated Swoosh that wraps around the heel.

And those white details are joined by the golden orange colouring on the soleplate of each boot, all of which, from a tech perspective, are the same as their current regular versions. That orange gold colouring continues on the inside where a throwback insole graphic then acts as a nice sign off, tying the pack together with its inspiration.
