Nike Launch "Under The Radar" PhantomVSN & VNM

Completing the “Under the Radar” pack, Nike release the PhantomVSN and PhantomVNM in two new outfits for the season ahead, wrapping the twins in a shroud of darkness that’s accented by luminous pops.

The Phantom twins arrive under the cover of darkness to round off Nike’s “Under the Radar” pack, following the recent releases of the revamped, next-generations of Tiempo 8 and Mercurial Superfly 7. While the running theme of the pack is black, with the title suggesting a level of discretion, Nike stretch the concept with the PhantomVNM and VSN by adding pops of volt luminescence to their looks. The VSN is the most blatant of the two, with bright volt detailing on the upper being joined by a full volt soleplate.

The VNM tones it down a notch from there, with the volt accents only featuring on the outline of the swoosh and through the tech call outs. The swoosh then features an iridescent pattern that’s only noticeable when caught by the right light. In a similar move to the new Mercurial, both Phantom boots feature subtle ‘Just Do It’ Mercurial-esque graphics throughout the rear portion of their uppers, barely noticeable in the darkness.

The “Under the Radar” pack was heralded at the end of June by the arrival of the new Tiempo Legend 8, which saw the darkness of the sleek new look only interrupted by blue accents through the swoosh, heel branding and stud tips.

But the Tiempo Legend 8 is not the only boot to debut in the “Under the Radar” pack, with the next-gen Mercurial also sneaking in on the action as one of a debut double. The Mercurial Vapor XIII and Superfly VII went the complete blackout route, stripping away the impressive graphic overlay of the “New Lights” release to provide a sleek silhouette of pure seduction.

The PhantomVSN and Phantom VNM complete the pack, which won’t be seen on pitch as the new season gets underway. For that, Nike have the “New Lights” pack, for which we’ve already seen the Mercurial, and you can expect the rest of the pack to follow later this month. Fairly safe to say that it's likely to be a more colourful affair...
