La Liga Teams Unveil the Kits for Retro Matchday

The wait is over. La Liga have finally unveiled which vintage-inspired kits we will be seeing on the league's first-ever Retro Matchday. And we are hyped.

Ever since La Liga first teased its inaugural Retro Matchday, the anticipation has been building. Whispers of archive pulls, reissued classics, and heritage-heavy design had the football and fashion worlds locked in. Desperately waiting to see exactly which eras each club would tap into.

Now, the wait is over.

The league has finally unveiled the full lineup of retro-inspired kits, and it’s everything we hoped for. Vintage energy runs through every thread, from bold 90s graphics to stripped-back classics, each piece reworked for the modern game while staying true to its roots.

The concept is simple, but the execution hits different.

Each club has dug into its archive, pulling from title-winning seasons, cult classics, and forgotten gems, to create a modern-day reinterpretation of their identity. The result? A weekend where history doesn’t sit in a museum. It plays out on the pitch once again.

Not everyone made the cut. Real Madrid, Barcelona, Getafe CF & Rayo Vallecano. A shame, considering the archives those clubs sit on. But it leaves space for others to take centre stage. And they do exactly that. It's hard to pick a favourite because so many hit all the marks. The perfect blend of cult classics and pure nostalgia. From Villareal to Real Racing Club, each club is distinctive to it's own history, and what's not to love about that.

So, yeah. You won't be having to scroll on ebay trying to find a good retro shirt for summer this year. La Liga have just fed us a whole bunch. But which will you be buying?

Retro drops have always lived in fragments. Anniversary kits, limited releases, one-off moments. But this? This is coordinated. League-wide. Intentional. A full ecosystem built around heritage. And that’s what makes it hit. Because while football constantly looks forward, this matchday proves one thing: The past still moves the game.

Each kit available via club websites...
