adidas Reveal Newcastle 24/25 Home Shirt

Commencing their new partnership together, Adidas have revealed the new Newcastle home shirt for the 24/25 season, and it draws inspiration from the classic 2002/03 home kit, worn during the Magpies’ last appearance in the UEFA Champions League until their return last season.

Newcastle United and adidas enjoyed a successful partnership between 1995 and 2010, and now, after a period of 14 years apart, the two are back together for a second stint. And the pair mark the highly-anticipated return with the unveiling of the home kit for the upcoming 2024/25 season, which will be worn on pitch for the first time by the men’s team as part of the club’s pre-season schedule ahead of the new campaign.

The new shirt nods to the 2002/03 era with three bold black stripes and a full-colour crest, and that’s joined by Three-Stripes detailing on the shoulders up to the collar. In further celebration of the club's history, the classic club crest reappears as a back neck sign-off.

Nick Craggs, Global Football General Manager, adidas, said: “The partnership between adidas and Newcastle United is iconic, and we are excited to unveil the home kit for the upcoming season. Our previous collaboration marked so many unforgettable moments for the club, and we’re looking forward to creating these on and off the pitch once again. Bringing fans and players closer together this season.”

Commenting on the home shirt unveiling, Newcastle United’s Chief Commercial Officer, Peter Silverstone, said: “This iconic home kit, and training range, symbolises the start of an exciting partnership with adidas, one of the world’s most renowned sportswear brands.

“The strength of the relationship that adidas enjoys with our passionate fanbase gives us great confidence that the exciting product ranges they have created for the 24/25 season, and beyond, will be extremely popular. We know our fans will wear the three stripes with pride.

“This partnership launch, aligned with the re-launch of the Club’s in-house retail business, is just the start of an exciting journey. Together, we hope to capture the imagination and passion of our supporters, who proudly wear our black and white stripes wherever they are in the world.”

As part of the launch, adidas invited photographer George Dixon, aka @FloodlightsOn, to capture behind-the-scenes imagery on film at the campaign shoot.

Getting invited to capture BTS at the NUFC x adidas shoot was an absolutely mental experience," Dixon explained.

I shot portraits of his lordship Alan Shearer. I captured Shola recreating the famous 'training ground apple bite on a bike' shot. And that doesn’t even scratch the surface.”

"I’m chuffed with the results, but nothing will come close to getting the chance to take portraits of Alan Shearer in the Gallowgate concourse. My idol. I was told the last time he pulled on the shirt was the last time he played. His testimonial in 2006. No pressure, George."

The shirt reminds me of the first black and white striped top my parents got for me, from the 01/02 season. I wore that beauty during every training session, every birthday party and every school disco. For that reason, when I first saw it I fell in love instantly. Belter."

Three stripes and black and white stripes are just meant to be. Stripes are such a huge part of our identity as a club and, like many, I associate adidas with the good old days. Watching footage of the entertainers. Shearer scoring for fun. European nights under Sir Bobby.

Who would’ve thought taking photos on days out following Newcastle United would lead to an opportunity like this? “Not me. Absolute fairytale stuff.
