Umbro Brasil Launch Santos 23/24 Third Shirt

Paying tribute to Santos FC’s history in Asia, Umbro Brasil release the Brazilian club’s 2023/24 third kit, which draws inspiration from the club’s tours across Japan, China, South Korea and beyond.

Santos has a strong link with Japan, dating back to 18 June, 1908, 115 years ago, when the first families from Japanese lands disembarked from the ship Kasato Maru in the Port of Santos. They would become culturally integrated, forever marking the history of the city and the country. This developed to the regular tours of the nation, and now Umbro Brasil draw on this connection for the club’s new third shirt.

The design includes a unique graphic treatment featuring a carp, the symbol of strength, persistence, and triumph in Asian cultures. The kit is dominated by a deep blue hue, adorned with lighter blue and red elements symbolising waves and stylised carp motifs. The sleeve bears the word “Japan,” inscribed in a font inspired by Japanese script, merging with the Japanese flag. A distinctive ‘bat’ style collar and cuffs in matching dark blue, complete the design.

“We must always remember that Santos is not only one of the biggest teams in Brazil, but also a global club, acclaimed throughout the planet for having been mainly responsible for taking Brazilian football, in its excellence, to all corners of the world," explained Eduardo Dal Pogetto, national brand director at Umbro Brasil. "This new shirt tells a remarkable and unique episode of this tour, in which the club was able to face several Asian teams, something unprecedented in world football. The kind of history that only Santos fans can be proud to have.”
