Melbourne City 2017/18 Nike Kit Launch Event

The Australians know how put on a show, and an A-League kit launch is the ideal excuse to have a beer and a bit of party. Rather than throw out a couple of generic kit shots on Twitter, Melbourne City and Nike went hard for the reveal of their new replica collection.

Putting on an exclusive event for 250 fans, Melbourne City roped in their entire first team squad to launch the new season’s kit at North Melbourne’s iconic Meat Market venue. Australians love meat. The fans were given the first look at City’s first ever full ‘city blue’ shirt, with Bruno Fornaroli, Tim Cahill, and latest signing Stefan Mauk on modelling duties.

We can certainly learn to love that central Nike Swoosh under the minimal collar. A lot of time for that. Whilst the home kit takes on a traditional theme, the away kit is a nod to Melbourne City’s heritage, and the colours still represented in the Club’s badge. Red and white vertical stripes and all-red sleeves, shorts and socks.

Melbourne was represented in every aspect of the evening, with award-winning local DJ and turntablist BTWO responsible for the soundtrack. The food was provided by Melbourne City ambassador, Shane Delia’s ‘Biggie Smalls Kebabs’. We'll take the home shirt and a couple of Biggie Smalls Kebabs for the road please, mate.
