Kylian Mbappe Confirmed As FIFA 21 Cover Star

Who cares about being a World Cup winning Golden Boy? EA SPORTS have today revealed 21-year old French superstar Kylian Mbappé as the cover star of FIFA 21.

Confirming what had already been heavily rumoured, Mbappe has now officially been announced as the cover star for the next iteration of FIFA, with the PSG striker edging out teammate Neymar.

As one of the game’s brightest young stars, Mbappé represents the next generation of great footballers, and in addition to his world class talent, he also embodies the spirit of the global FIFA community through his dedication to growing the culture of football and connecting the beautiful game with millions around the world.

The new FIFA 21 cover star has scored World Cup-winning goals, won league titles, was named Golden Boy in 2017, and won Ligue 1 Player of The Year at the age of 20. He signed his first professional contract in 2016. Now, Kylian Mbappé can add FIFA cover star to his list of accomplishments. “Being on the cover of FIFA is a dream come true,” commented Mbappe. “From my time at Bondy to Clairefontaine to the World Cup, this marks another big milestone. I’ve been playing this game since I was a kid and I am honored to represent a whole new generation of footballers and be in the same group as many other amazing footballers who I now share this honor with.”

The news comes on the heels of Paris Saint-Germain debuting their 20/21 home and away kits and the timing of this announcement has clearly been influenced by the fact that both feature heavily in the marketing.

Cam Weber, EVP and Group GM at EA Sports said: As our FIFA franchise accelerates towards the next generation of player experience, we know our cover athlete needs to truly embody both the future of our game and the future of football as a whole. Kylian represents what we’re bringing to the experience this year, from his commitment to advancing football culture, to his deep social connections and relentless desire to take his game to the next level. We’re excited to partner with Kylian in driving the World’s Game forward.”
