After a successful Paris fashion Week last year, Mexican brand Liberal Youth Ministry have joined forces once more with Chivas Guadalajara for a new capsule for the year. The collection sees a series of youth clothing including hoodies and t-shirts.
Liberal Youth Ministry have always been at the forefront of blending football and fashion, creating their collections to express their love for the sport. Heads were turned at Paris Fashion Week 2023, when LYM first came together with Chivas for their groundbreaking FW23 collection and made a statement for football fashion. Their most recent collaboration shows similarities in terms of theme and colour combinations, staying loyal to the traditional red and white/blue of the Guadalajara home kit.
Established in 2016 by designer Antonio Zaragoza, LYM breaks conventional streetwear codes with vibrant clothing and heavy graphics. Zaragoza is a big Guadalajara fan, being his local team growing up, therefore a chance to team up with the club was an opportunity not to be passed. With a heavy focus on youth rebellion aesthetics, LYM combines this with inspiration from retro pieces and football culture within Mexico. This collaboration represents a blend of tradition and modernity, bridging the gap between Mexican football culture and global fashion.
Football-fashion is a rapidly growing market, with football lifestyle apparel becoming much more frequent in the last few years. We are even seeing clubs’ team up with global fashion brands for performance wear, a prime example being AC Milan’s continued partnership with Off-White. Now LYM and Chivas are throwing their name into conversations like these with standout collections that are blurring the lines between football culture and the fashion market.
