Our Top 10 Concept Boot Designs By Lumo723

How many boot releases is too many? Brands are dropping series, colourways and limited edition boots more frequently than ever before, with nothing seemingly out of bounds and graphic designers have pounced on that freedom of expression to get creative, none less so than Berlin based Lumo723.

Lumo723 is made up of two guys from Berlin, Lukas and Moritz, who obsess over football boots and sneakers and toy around with creative concepts that must been pushing the designers are brands every day. From signature styles to imaginary collaborations Lumo723 ask the questions, and we'd very much like all the answers to be signed off. Here we pick out our top 10 concept football boots designs from their portfolio of work.

First up is the Mercurial Superfly VII in the style of the latest Nike Premier League 19/20 Tunnel Vision Merlin Ball. The specifics of the ball design have been carefully replicated onto the Superfly to make it look like something that would appear in one of Virgil Abloh's dreams, and we're all for that.

Ever wondered what one of the most iconic Nike Tech Craft packs would look like wrapped around Nike's current PhantomVSN, Mercurial Superfly and Tiempo silos? These guys have, obviously.

One of our favourites, this. Lumo723 have taken the branding from the Premier League's #NoRoomForRacism. camping and stuck it on a Mercurial Superfly 6 concept. The colours taken from the 19/20 match ball that kicked off the season in August.

Next up is an adidas X 19+ concept based on the #showyourlaces campaign. These ‘warming stripe’ graphics are visual representations of the change in temperature as measured over the past 100+ years. Each stripe represents the temperature averaged over a year. Showing brands how they can effect change and spread positive message while remaining relevant aesthetically.

Vans have had an official Nightmare Before Christmas collection so why shouldn't Nike? This was Lumo723 turning on their festive spirit and it was anything but a nightmare.

Yep, this is right up there. Those pink and black primary colours of Inter Miami is what the brand will be successfully built upon. That combo will sell, and David Beckham knows it. It's unique, it's quintessentially Miami and it's wearable. Oh, and it looks immense on a football boot. With Beckham's connections with Three Stripes we can see it being a very realistic project.

To mark the 23rd anniversary of the film Space Jam releasing in cinemas Lumo723 whipped up a Looney Tunes vs. Mon Stars special edition concept on the Nike Mercurial Superfly.

Naturally a Star Wars concept was always going to follow. Could brands get more involved in special edition collaborations are films and culture events? You can't say you wouldn't be intrigued...

Inspired by adidas' partnership with 'Parley for the Oceans' Lumo723 created a Parley branded adidas Ace Purecontrol football boot. The Three Stripes have already released Parley sneakers and football shirts, made from recycled sea plastic, so the idea of a boot can't be too far away.

We're wrapping things up with a Nike PhantomVNM inspired by the official 2019/20 Premier League Merlin Winter Hi-Vis Match Ball. Bang on that colourway. Get this coming out across all silos for the next hi-vis ball and start counting the money.
