New Balance refresh the ranks for the new year, offering up fresh new colourways for the all-new Furon v8, as well as the Tekela v4 and 442 v2.
New Balance kicks off the year in style, unveiling updated looks for its latest-generation boots: the Furon V8, Tekela V4, and 442 V2. For the all-new Furon v8, its a second new look, coming on the back of the recent First Edition release, which arrived in a “Hi-Lite Yellow/Energy Red” colourway. This time, there’s a vibrant “White/Energy Red/Hi-Lite Yellow” palette, which is carried across to the 442 v2, with the Tekela being the odd one out in “Black/Energy Red/Hi-Lite Yellow”.
First up, the the Furon V8 is all about explosive movement and precise execution. Its dual-textured Hypoknit upper enhances ball control, while the offset laces remain from the last few generations, still offering that extended strike zone, complementing the low-profile collar. Underfoot, and the soleplate’s T-shape forefoot studs improve agility and acceleration. But it's not all about forward momentum: a braking stud helps with quick changes of direction.
The white base features the same graphic on the heel as the First Edition release, although it feels all the more vibrant on this colour execution.
Moving on to the black sheep of the New Balance family, the Tekela. It doesn't fall in line with the clean white looks of the Furon and 442, instead opting to go for a black base. That's overlaid by reds and bright yellows, while the 'N' branding is larger than on the other two, shimmering in silver. Designed for the creators, the Tekela V4+ focuses on supreme touch and control. The minimalist stretch-knit upper hugs the foot for a glove-like fit, ensuring heightened ball awareness. New forefoot texturing sharpens grip, while cushioning pads perfect your first touch. The bladed-edge soleplate supports sharp turns and quick pivots
Finally, the 442 v2 adopts a very similar look as the Furon, albeit without the heel graphic. The pristine white highlights the plush quilted forefoot, which is combined with the Hypoknit construction. There's a touch of elegance about this one: lightweight responsiveness meets timeless design, offering players a perfect fusion of tradition and technology. It may not be on the feet of any pros, but this is a specialist of the grassroots game, make no mistake.
