The fifth generation of speed is presented under the cover of darkness, as Umbro launch the Velocita V in a "Black/Black Reflective" colourway. With a “Memory Flex” upper, the Velocita V boasts a dynamic fit that works in conjunction with the natural motion of your foot to ensure comfort at speed in all directions.

The Velocita has been Umbro’s speed specialist since its introduction in 2015, and now, five years on, it gets an overhaul to ensure that it keeps pace with the game. On the underside it’s a case of as you were, with the same Pebax Sprint+ soleplate that featured on the fourth generation still providing lightweight traction – if it ain’t broke and all that. Yep, for the fifth generation all the changes are reserved for the upper, which has been radically altered to ensure an adaptable and dynamic fit for all speedsters out there.

To achieve this Umbro have created a “Memory Flex” upper. It’s comprised of a soft neoprene layer that stretches across the upper of the foot to create a seamless feel. The TPU outer-layer then features a laser-cut auxetic pattern, which allows the upper to stretch in four directions, so not matter which way you’re running, the boot will adjust accordingly.

For its launch the Velocita V is wrapped up in a sleek black colourway, with the Double Diamonds taking on an iridescent shimmer, catching the eye and attracting focus when the light shines just right, much like an actual diamond. Nice touch.
