Nike Launch NJR x Jordan Collection

Two giants of their respective games with mutual respect from the pitch to the court, Nike have released a collaborative collection that champions Neymar Jr and Michael Jordan. It see's the Hypervenom II get the Jumpman treatment and gives the cultured game a breeze of fresh air.

This unique collaboration see's Neymar become the first athlete across all sports to feature the "Jumpman" on his own performance product. With design inspiration not short coming, the NJR x JORDAN Hypervenom II boot takes inspiration from the Jordan V, a personal favourite of Neymar. With its razor finish and shark teeth front, it takes the boot into unchartered waters with sleek matte style without losing the undertones of natural flare with a feisty bite.

Taking elements from the shoe and applying them to the boots, this meeting of minds sees the Jordan V’s reflective tongue reinterpreted on the tongue-less Hypervenom in the form of a bold reflective Swoosh. The reflective properties consume the Neymar Jr. edition of the Jordan V Low, on which the entire upper is reflective. Jordan’s iconic cement print is recreated on the soleplate of the Hypervenom, along with the Jumpan logo underfoot. The initials of Neymar’s son “DL” appear on the laces, as does the icon of the Brazil flag.

A statement finish all over that brings two icons together, Neymar Jr.’s Brasil number 10 appears on the lateral side of the left boot and per Neymar’s request, the number 23 is on the right boot, paying homage to Jordan. Adding extra attention to detail and one for the typographic lovers out there, both numbers appear in the respective font of the jerseys worn by the athletes. The sockliner and packaging feature a lock-up of Jordan and Neymar’s logos, while the boot heel features the Jumpman exclusively. Swoosh and swoon over these.

Where the pitch stops is only the beginning of the collaboration. In addition to the Hypervenom II and Jordan V, the NJR x JORDAN collection includes apparel and a football training shoe. Another first, never before has the Jordan brand launched a complete collection for an athlete who is not a member of its own stable. A pretty resounding show of support for Neymar Jr from one of his own icons.

Hitting the pitch for the first time as Neymar suits up for Brazil in August, the full collection will be available globally from June 3rd.
