Nike have wasted no time in rewarding Cristiano Ronaldo on his 2014 Ballon d'Or win with a custom pair of "Rare Gold" Mercurial Superfly IV boots, bespoke with a lower fit collar.

Yes it's only January, but Nike might have just landed the hottest and most exclusive boot of the year. In celebration of Cristiano Ronaldo’s incredible year and tremendous achievements, Nike have created a special boot designed exclusivley for Ronaldo, presented to him after he picked up his third Ballon d’Or trophy. He's doing alright isn't he?

Some description

Nike's theory behind the design is that gold was selected as the main color on the boot because gold is earned and for the first time in Nike history, micro-diamonds have been applied by hand to the CR7 logo of the boot.

The micro-diamonds are remnants from larger stones that are perfected by craftsmen. As the diamonds are refined and the details sharpened, tiny pieces are cut away, leaving micro-diamonds behind as evidence of work in progress. Nike's believe that the commitment to keep chipping away at something already impressive reminded their design team of Ronaldo’s work ethic. While many see Ronaldo as the best in the world, he sees room for improvement.

There's no word yet on how many have been produced, but Nike have confirmed that Ronado will wear his new signature boots this week when Real Madrid take on Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey. Thoughts? Drop your comments below.
