Athens Kallithea’s Third Jersey Is Black, Gold and Very Nice

Athens Kallithea FC have closed out their 26/27 kit collection with a third shirt that needs little introduction: black, gold, and very, very clean.

If the club's summer home and away drop was the opera, this is very much the back alley. Those shirts arrived with Apopse, a 16 mm short film scored with Mimis Plessas and Tzeni Vanou's 1963 song of the same name.

For the third shirt, AKFC went local instead. Raw, minimal, and rooted in the neighborhood.  Fronting the campaign is Kallithea-born rapper Half Quickie, an emerging name in Athens' underground hip-hop scene and a match day regular.

The shirt itself, available in both long-sleeve and short-sleeve versions, pulls luxury and street into the same frame. A total-black collar sits on a sleek black base with a satin-like feel, finished with rich gold embellishments.

Then comes the twist: a metallic grey mesh insert under each arm, bordered by thin white piping. It's a small detail, but it breaks up the black in exactly the right way.

The usual suspects are all present too: the ΕΜΣΤ wordmark of the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Athens returns on the front, marking year four of one of football's more distinctive pairings.

This season also marks AKFC's 60th anniversary. The club was founded in 1966 through the merger of five grassroots clubs, and the collection nods to that with five stars above the "AK" monogram crest.

The third shirt is the final piece of this season's collection, which continues AKFC's long-running collaborations with Italian technical partner Kappa and Munich-based design studio Bureau Borsche.
