French Amateur Side La Ligugéenne Make Moves to Put Themselves on the Map

Taking a different route to recognition, French amateur side La Ligugéenne Football, with the backing of Kappa, have revealed a beautiful new kit for the 26/27 season, one that the club will be hoping will catch the eye beyond its local fanbase.

Imagine you're running a semi-professional or amateur football club. You have ambitions of climbing the ladder, attracting new supporters and growing your profile beyond your local community. Traditionally, there's only really been one way to do that: win matches. Keep winning, keep progressing, and eventually people will start to take notice. The problem is that football's traditional route to recognition is a long and often uncertain one. Over the last decade, however, clubs have discovered another path, one that doesn't rely solely on results. Instead, it leans into the creative culture behind the game.

Football culture has become a powerful tool in its own right. Build an identity, create a story, produce something people connect with, and present it in a visually rich way and suddenly your club can reach audiences far beyond the confines of its league position. It's a blueprint pioneered by Venezia, with the Italian side becaming globally recognised not so much for what they did on the pitch, but for the way they presented themselves off it. Their now-famous approach to branding, storytelling and kit design showed football clubs that culture could be just as valuable as competition when it came to building a profile. Since then, clubs at every level of the game have taken notice.

From professional outfits to grassroots organisations, more teams are realising that a strong visual identity can be a shortcut to recognition. A cult football shirt can spread across social media in hours. A well-crafted brand can attract attention from people who might never watch a match. Once people know your name, half the battle is already won. That's exactly the philosophy behind French amateur side La Ligugéenne Football's latest move.

Following L'Armorial, the first chapter of the club's visual transformation which introduced a new crest and refreshed identity, La Ligugéenne Football has once again teamed up with +3 Studio to unveil La Tunique, the club's new home shirt for the 2026/27 season.

The design is a statement piece. A deep black base is paired with a classic white polo collar and matching cuffs, with subtle tone-on-tone copper detailing woven into the trim. The sponsor position is occupied not by a commercial brand, but by the club itself, with "Ligugé 1922" sitting proudly across the chest in white. Very Venezia.

It's a clean, confident look that feels deliberately crafted to reflect the club's new direction. According to the club, the shirt embodies its ambition to radiate beyond Ligugé and the wider Vienne region, carrying its colours and identity to a much broader audience.

The project forms part of the "Ambassador Club" initiative, developed by +3 Studio in partnership with the Vienne Football District. As the programme's selected club, La Ligugéenne Football receives comprehensive 360-degree communication support designed to modernise its image, strengthen its appeal and help the club evolve beyond its traditional boundaries.

With the rebrand already in place, La Tunique becomes the most visible symbol of that next step. And it's already hit the right notes and is a massive step in the right direction.

And while Venezia may have helped write the modern playbook for football culture-led growth, their influence is now reaching far beyond the professional game. From Serie A to the amateur pitches of western France, clubs are increasingly recognising that identity, storytelling and design can be powerful tools for putting themselves on the map. La Ligugéenne are the latest to embrace that idea, and judging by La Tunique, they're doing so in style.
