Shot in and around the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, with the sinuous shapes of the Biscione buildings acting as a backdrop, Kappa has produced its next lookbook, this time turning the focus to Italian side Genoa. It frames the 2019/20 home and away shirts in their natural environments as they spill from the stadium to the streets.

There was something fitting about Kappa returning to one of Italy’s oldest clubs, Genoa, as kit manufacturers for the start of the 2019/20 season, with the Italian brand going on to produce three stunning kits for Il Grifone. And now both the home and away shirts, accompanied by the yellow goalkeeper shirt that comes complete with sublimated griffin print in the body, have been captured in a stunning lookbook shot in and around the Serie A side’s Marassi home.

Located at the foot of the Forte Quezzi hill, upon which the Biscione housing complex snakes its way along the contour lines, Stadio Luigi Ferraris sits proudly as one of the oldest stadiums still in use in Italy. And that feeling of pride carries into the local neighbourhood, with a sense of identity surrounding the stadium, creating the perfect place for the block colouring of Kappa’s designs to be shown off, with the famous red and blues of the home shirt looking just that – right at home, nestled in amongst the stadium’s structure.

The away shirt does exactly what you want an away shirt to do, carrying the sense of club identity away from the comforts of the home stadium, with a simple white base carrying the red and blue colouring across the chest.

Kappa has dished out some incredibly strong designs this season to the likes of AS Monaco, Aston Villa and Real Betis, and rightly placing modesty to one side they have showcased these with lookbooks for each, with Genoa now joining that list. Whilst their league form leaves something to be desired so far this season, there can be no questions about their on-pitch style – a look that so seamlessly carries across onto the street scene.
