It’s a new era for Lazio, as the Serie A side prepare to say goodbye to current kit producers Macron and say hello to new official kit suppliers Mizuno. The Japanese brand has been confirmed as the new technical partner for the Italian side in a deal that will commence following the conclusion of the 21/22 season.

S.S. Lazio has formalised an exciting new partnership, choosing to rely on the deep history and heritage of Japanese brand Mizuno as the official supplier for technical and sports clothing starting from the 2022/23 season. The deal will see Mizuno dress all the Lazio teams, from the First Team and Lazio Women through to the youth sector and all the affiliated clubs of Lazio Soccer School.

Current sponsors Macron have paid €20 million over a five-year period (€4 million per season), and although no official figures have been released yet, reports suggest that the Mizuno deal will be worth a lot more to Lazio. Despite that, Macron have been responsible for some great Lazio kits since they took over in the 2012/13 season, including several special anniversary jerseys.

Since the 2018/19 season, Mizuno have been securing partnerships with Italian teams from Serie D to Serie B, such as Cittadella, Cesena and Sudtirol. This new deal with Lazio is their first in Serie A and will become the brand’s most valuable as they try to establish a greater presence in Europe. Their hope is that Lazio will be the first club to come aboard a project that will help modernise Mizuno’s positioning in the world of international football.

While Mizuno have been ever-present in the boot scene, they've not had a firm presence in terms of kits in Europe for a number of years. Their influence in the Japanese market is something that we have highlighted recently, noting the untapped style of the Eastern game and how it could well be brought to prominence. Now Mizuno are making their first steps into the top tier of European football, with reports also suggesting that they are also eyeing a move into the Bundesliga. Exciting to see what they can bring over from the J-league as they look to establish themselves as a force in Europe.
