Leroy Sane Lays Down The Next Challenge In Nike's Living Room Cup

As he continues his own recovery from long-term injury from the confines of his own house, Leroy Sane has stepped up with the third challenge in the Nike Living Room Cup, giving his followers one week to beat his best side-step shuffle mark.

The Living Room Cup, a digital workout series that debuted on 5 April, offers a new space to compete against Nike pro athletes through weekly fitness challenges. And taking the baton from Italian wheelchair fencer Bebe Vio, Manchester City’s Leroy Sané has set the world the challenge of beating his total number of side-step shuffles. Competitors have 45 seconds to complete as many reps as possible, and Sané will give his followers one week to beat his best mark, before he passes the competition over to the next athlete for a new challenge.

For Sané, who had missed seven months of football this season following a serious knee injury in the Community Shield match against Liverpool, the lockdown could not have come at a worse time as he neared his long awaited full return. But the exercise certainly suggests that the German is keeping himself in good shape, possibly with the thought of a move to Bayern Munich edging nearer as rumours continue to gather pace.

The first athlete to set a challenge in the Living Room Cup was Cristiano Ronaldo, and it was picked up by several other pros, including Vinicius Jr., Erling Haaland, and Harvey Elliott. Dedicated workouts to help provide a competitive advantage during each week’s challenge are made available on the Nike Training Club app, and players are encouraged to share their results on their Instagram profiles using the hashtags #playinside and #thelivingroomcup. The Living Room Cup is another example of Nike’s efforts to support all athletes in their indoor wellness journey.
