Are Celtic Close To Record-Breaking adidas Kit Deal?

Celtic are reportedly close to announcing a major kit deal with adidas when the club's current kit deal with New Balance expires at the end of the 2019/20 season. The rumour, if true, would mark the first time that the Hoops and the Three Stripes have partnered up.

Alright, alright, it's The Sun that have kicked off these rumours but it is a viable connection considering that Celtic's existing contract with New Balance is due to expire soon. The current agreement between Celtic and New Balance is understood to be worth at least £25 million over five years, but if adidas muscle in then it's expected to top that to become the largest in kit deal in Scottish football history.

As always, other brands will be monitoring the situation but there appears to be a decent reaction from Celtic fans who are keen to see what adidas could do with the club having never partnered with them before. Any potential link-up would mark a new era for Celtic, with previous kits being made by Nike between 2005 and 2015, after Umbro let go of the reigns at Celtic Park in 2005 after over 40 years of the Double Diamond accompanying the famous green and white hoops. Naturally, Celtic fans have been quick to whip up some concept designs...

Stay tuned for more on Celtic's rumoured adidas move...
