MHD & Roger Milla Launch PUMA Cameroon Home Shirt

Afro-trap artist MHD and African football legend Roger Milla join up with the Cameroon squad to launch the new home shirt, celebrating the 20th year of their partnership with PUMA. Inspired by the past and looking ahead to creating new chapters of national pride for the Indomitable Lions.

To still be influencing and inspiring a new generation almost thirty years later takes a special sort of character. Roger Milla's heroics of 1990 were written in the history books of world and African football. A 38-year-old striker who scored twice against Colombia to take an African team to the Quarter Finals of a World Cup for the very first time.

Milla’s dancing celebration next to the corner flag, one hand raised to the sky and the other hand on his belly, quickly became the image of the 1990 World Cup. An image that is still world famous and one that inspires the launch of the new PUMA shirt with the help of MHD – an artist that dedicated a song to Milla last year.

Warmly welcomed by the Cameroonian squad, MHD took on the likes of Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting, Benjamin Moukandjo, Fabrice Ondoa, Sébastien Siani and Frank Zambo-Anguissa. MHD played the guys at FIFA 18 before taking to the pitch for real to reveal the new shirt in Roger Milla style. The main man himself also getting in on the act by showing his approval for the adoption of his famous hip swing and at the same time the new home kit of his Cameroon. A true handover between the old and the new generation.

We went behind-the-scenes with MHD and Roger Milla as they filmed the PUMA video with the Cameroon squad, and to see first hand the mutual respect and friendship the prince of Afro-Trap has with the players. Music and football go hand-in-hand, none more so than in Africa, where the relationship between the two carve cultures. National pride, a hunger to represent and to enjoy the game – the 20th anniversary of the partnership between PUMA and Cameroon is captured perfectly in the new film.

As for the shirt, it's designed to reflect the pride and passion of the fans and nation. The jersey incorporates a modern and striking interpretation of the famous roaring lion crest into its design. An impactful emblem that will inspire and invigorate these modern-day lion kings to play with no fear. The flag of Cameroon is represented on the collar, and that unforgettable green rekindles memories of that Roger Milla dance, that purist of passions.
