Admiral Unveil SS23 Collection Through 'Flick to Click' Lookbook

Harnessing football fans’ pure passion for all things nostalgia, Admiral Sporting Goods Co. present their SS23 collection, which sees models mounted on Subbuteo bases for a Look Book titled ‘Flick to Kick’.

Re-interpreting classic sportswear for the contemporary consumer whilst also paying homage to its illustrious past, Admiral Sporting Goods Co. venture away from the bread and butter that is its extensive jersey programme to explore the lifestyle scene… all while not forgetting the footballing roots that allowed the brand to flourish in the first place. Much like the collection, the accompanying lookbook, entitled ‘Flick to Kick’, is a modernised reimagining of sporting and cultural history – namely Subbuteo!

For a certain generation, Subbuteo is an instant tap in when it comes to nostalgia – the hours spent flicking your players around on a mat, collecting teams, it all harks back to better times. By referencing the game that was omnipresent in households through the late 80s and early 90s, the lookbook looks to imbue a sense of nostalgia, whilst showcasing the versatility and adaptability of each garment in the collection.

Key to Admiral’s SS23 collection is the ‘Washed Out’ series, an ongoing endeavour to reproduce the look and feel of a vintage garment without affecting the quality. Core styles such as the Aylestone T-Shirt, Shearsby Sweat and Braunstone hoodie all receive the treatment, undergoing the process in a range of seasonal colours. SS23 also sees the introduction of Indigo into the collection, known for its ability to develop a unique patina as a direct result of the movement of the wearer, whilst also nodding to Admiral’s military background as activewear provider to the Royal Navy in the early 1900’s.

Tactility establishes itself as an important theme in the collection, with new styles such as the Freemens short and the Soar T-Shirt offering subtle twists on classic fabrications. Waffle cord and Toweling respectively offer an added dimension to the garments, eschewing bold branding and graphics in favour of an understated look.

Elsewhere in the collection, transitional layering is revisited. Stalwarts like the Westcote and the Deacon overshirts are complemented by the introduction of the Sturdee and Radcot, offering slight twists on the classic overshirt, bringing new pocket, placket and collar detailing to the seasonal offering.
