Framed #19 | Bayern Munich v Real Madrid

The wonderfully weird world of pre-season saw Champions League winners Real Madrid meet Bundesliga title holders Bayern Munich at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Two of Europe's most distinguished and successful clubs stand tall in the International Champions Cup in our latest 'Framed' series.

There's something satisfyingly pure about seeing a group of the world's greatest footballers without names on the back of their shirts. A retro Sunday League vibe in unusual surroundings. Carlo Ancelotti came head to head with his old employers and was haunted by an unlikely hero in full-back Danilo, who came off to bench to fire in a rocket of a goal to avoid a stalemate.

An 82,000 sell out. That's what these two clubs can pull off, anywhere in the world and at any time. A magnet of beautiful football captured from the other side of that white line by our own Nate Congelton. Red and white wizardry all round. Roll on the new season.
