Darwin Signals Potential Switch To adidas With New Predator Colourway

Looks like Darwin Nunez could be on the market for a new boot sponsor, after the Liverpool striker was spotted wearing what looked to be an unreleased colourway of the new adidas Predator Elite Laceless.

Darwin Nunez looks like he could possibly be set follow in the footsteps of teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold in joining adidas, although it’s not definite just yet. The Uruguayan, who has worn the Nike Mercurial throughout his career, stepped out for his side’s Carabao Cup quarter-final match at Anfield against West Ham wearing an unreleased colourway of the new adidas Predator Elite Laceless, but he’s also worn the PUMA Ultra and his regular Nike Mercurials in his last two games, against Union Saint-Gilloise and Manchester United respectively. All in all, it suggests that he’s playing the market to find the right deal, with his Nike contract either having expired already or being set to do so in the near future.

In terms of the adidas Predator that he wore against West Ham, it follows in an OG-inspired black, white and red colourway, although the red is far more vibrant than usual, with some volt accents flashing through the upper. This look is expected to be the first Predator drop of 2024—a year that marks the Predator’s landmark 30th anniversary. Following on from the limited-edition Predator 30 and Predstrike drops, it’s expected to be the first widely available release of the next-generation Predator and will come in all three top-tier fit options including the fold-over tongue.

It was interesting to see that Trent Alexander-Arnold still wore the Predstrike edition, with Nunez being one of the first players to show off the new colourway rather than a whiteout or blackout version as he clearly put them through their paces to see if he got on with them.

Nunez has been training in the PUMA Ultra Ultimate last week, before playing in them in the Europa League match against Union Saint-Gilloise on the 14 December. But he quickly switched back to his Nike Air Zoom Mercurial Vapor XV for the game against Manchester United on 17 December, ahead of the Carabao Cup match yesterday, 20 December. Six days, three different brands… big decisions ahead for Darwin.
