Bayern Munich’s new away jersey for 2026/27 is pretty simple – but that doesn’t mean it still doesn’t slap.
Some clubs can afford to keep things simple and Bayern Munich is one of them. When the colours, crest and identity are already among the most recognisable in football, there is little need to bury them beneath an elaborate concept.
That confidence runs through the club’s new 2026/27 away shirt with adidas. Built around a clean white base, it is finished with red and navy detailing across the polo collar, cuffs and Three Stripes. The result feels sharp and unmistakably Bayern, without relying on the club’s traditional red.
The most important detail sits on the chest, where the historic FC Bayern München eV crest replaces the current badge. It gives an otherwise restrained shirt added character, connecting the design to the club’s history without allowing the past to dominate it.
I find something deeply refreshing about that restraint. Football kits are increasingly expected to arrive with a gigantic bang nowadays, yet Bayern and adidas have gone the other way. There is no unnecessary pattern or complicated story, just familiar colours, a strong-as-hell collar and a crest that carries its own weight.
It also feels made for European nights away from Munich: white beneath the floodlights, flashes of red and navy, and the sense that Bayern have arrived expecting to take care of business.
Bayern’s identity has never required much decoration and this shirt is better for understanding that.
