Werder Bremen Drop Nostalgic 25/26 Third Kit With Hummel In Tribute To 1965 Title Triumph

SV Werder Bremen and hummel have teamed up once again, this time to mark a moment etched not just in club folklore, but in the cultural fabric of Bremen itself. Sixty years on from their first-ever Bundesliga title, Werder are celebrating that historic feat with the release of their 2025/26 third kit—a rich, story-laden design that nods to glory days while standing firm in the now.

Some kits speak louder than words. Draped in a bold dark green, Werder Bremen's new third shirt for the 25/26 season from hummel immediately commands attention, but it’s the copper detailing that really tells the story. Symbolising heritage, triumph, and time-worn pride, the metallic accents elevate the look without shouting—just as you'd expect from a side steeped in understated legacy.

A closer look at the collar reveals a subtle tribute to the 1965 Bundesliga victory, quietly honouring a season that changed the course of Werder's history. Running down the body is a clean gradient effect that gives the shirt a modern edge, perfectly balanced by the retro-style squad numbers on the reverse—each digit a throwback to a golden era.

hummel Marketing Director, Morten Lund: "At hummel, we believe every jersey tells a story – and few stories are as powerful as Werder Bremen’s first league title in 1965. This triumph shaped not only a club but an entire community, creating a legacy that lives on across generations. Working closely with Werder, we are proud to have captured that spirit in a design that honours tradition, inspires future success, and celebrates the enduring pride of the Werder family.

But this isn’t just a jersey—it’s a link to the past. To drive the nostalgia home, Werder enlisted the help of club legends Günter Bernard and Hans Schulz, both part of the original 1965 squad, for the launch shoot. The result? A blend of past and present that hits all the right notes.

Acknowledgment and preservation of the tradition of Werder Bremen has held major significance at the club for a long time,” explained Klaus Filbry, chairman of the board at SV Werder. “Past successes laid the foundation for this club, which we look back on with great reverence even now. The new third kit is something truly special due to the integration of the 1965 league title triumph in the design, a defining moment in the history of Werder Bremen.

Werder’s men’s team will debut the shirt this Saturday at home against RB Leipzig, while the women’s side will rep it for the first time on the road at SC Freiburg on Sunday. A fitting rollout for a kit that speaks to generations of fans—those who were there in ’65, and those carrying the torch today.
