The final piece in Ajax’s sublime three-piece for 22/23 drops, and it comes courtesy of a helping hand, with adidas recruiting Amsterdam-based fashion label Daily Paper.

We’ll keep banging this drum until something changes: Ajax and adidas just don’t do bad kits. The Eredivisie side’s new third shirt for 22/23 arrives with the help of some friends in the form of the fastest growing fashion label out of Europe, Daily Paper, who have put their own unique stamp on the design. Last season's universally loved third shirt was always a tough act to follow, and so recruiting Daily Paper, who more than step up to then plate, was a shrewd move from adidas. This kit celebrates Amsterdam’s unique street football culture and its golden generation, to recognise its impact on the sense of belonging and community in Amsterdam.

The new kit sees a light golden base joined by that black-and-red stripe down the centre to create a look that is reminiscent of the classic home kit design. The accents are white, utilised on the collar, Three Stripe branding on the shoulders and chest, sponsor, and club crest. But there's more than meets the eye about this design. A closer look reveals smoky black watermarks of nine of Amsterdam’s most prominent street football courts.

The nine Amsterdam street football courts featured on the jersey are Balboaplein, Zaandammerplein, A. Nouriplein (formerly Nigel de Jongplein), Louis De Visserplein (Gregory van der Wielplein), Piramide, Hendrick de Keijserplein, Joubertplein, Mijehof en Obi/Boni Plein. It features a playful interpretation of Amsterdam’s coat of arms as stunning outer neck detail, with Ajax and Daily Paper branding, the year Amsterdam was founded (1275), Amsterdam nicknames Mokum and Damsko and Pan-African colours, reflecting the African heritage of Daily Paper.

The retail version of the kit will feature the Daily Paper sign-off under the Ajax crest of both jersey and shorts. Due to regulations of governing bodies, the Daily Paper branding and neck detail will not be visible on the product worn by the team.

It's yet another win for Ajax in the kit stakes, and it will likely debut in this weekend's fixture against Groningen.
