Hummel Unveil Denmark 2021 Home & Away Shirts

Hummel have taken a novel approach to making the new Denmark kit unique, embedding the design – which is inspired by the 1984/86 kit – with a sound wave graphic of the noise from Parken Stadium, when the home crowd are singing for their country.

On the 7th of June 2019 Denmark welcomed Ireland at Parken Stadium. The place was packed with tens of thousands of Danish fans who all joined in to sing the Danish National Anthem. And that’s what the new national team jersey is made of. OK, not literally. Thankfully we’re not talking about an Emperor’s New Clothes situation here (although coincidently that folktale was written by Danish author Hans Christian Andersen…). No, the new Denmark home shirt, produced by Danish brand Hummel, is created in part by the Danish fans present that day at the stadium, shoulder to shoulder, singing about those blue waves.

See, way before the match had even started, Hummel had converted Parken Stadium into a giant sound studio. Their aim was to immortalise the national anthem in the best version ever made – sung at full steam by a fully packed national stadium and recorded using best-in-class sound equipment. Afterwards, they took that roar from Parken Stadium and transformed it into a sound wave that was subsequently weaved into the fabric used to make the new national team jersey. All of this to create a unique kit together with all the fans who supported the national team back in June 2019.

That unique sound wave sits on a retro fuelled design for the home shirt that’s been taken straight from the 84/86 design, with the red body and white sleeves and the iconic red chevrons running down the shoulders. It’s joined by the new away shirt, which takes a clean white base, again with the sound wave running across the body, and finished with red and blue trim details on the collar, cuffs, branding and crest.
