Nike Launch Kaizer Chiefs 20/21 Home and Away Jerseys

With electric tones and a historic back story, Kaizer Chiefs and Nike have released the club's home shirt for the forthcoming 2020/21 season. Drawing inspiration from the African heritage of the club and its iconic founder, Kaizer Motaung, the jersey incorporates a lion’s mane in the design to reflect the Bataung clan name.

Launched during 'Heritage Month' in South Africa, it's another milestone design as the club celebrates its 50th year in existence. Looking to inspire the next generation, it's with the powerful symbol of the lion that the club have chosen to visually communicate this kitted message.

Setting a tone that is oozing confidence, the away shirt for the 2020/21 season is equally compelling if not even more head-turning. Speaking on behalf of the club, Kaizer Chiefs Marketing Director Jessica Motaung explains, "As a country and a club, we have been through much in the past few months. We now have new inspiration and a new sense of urgency to do better. The new collection is unconventional in design and colourful, it’s exactly what we need – the unexpected.

Delving further into the origins of the design, it's evident that a positive message is being conveyed through this collection; "Gold and black are our traditional colours, while blue is the colour of the sky and sea. It is often associated with royalty, depth and stability. It symbolises trust, loyalty, wisdom, confidence, intelligence, faith and the truth. It is futuristic and represents the technological aspects of the jersey.

Both jerseys are constructed using Nike’s Dri-Fit technology that aids in wicking sweat to cool down athletes during play. Consistent with Nike’s approach to sustainability, the jerseys are made with 100 percent recycled polyester fabric, sourced from recycled plastic bottles.

The 2020/21 Kaizer Chiefs home and away kits will be available globally from Monday 28th Sept.
