Nike Launch Roma 20/21 Home Shirt & Training Collection

Set for one last hurrah, Nike unveil the AS Roma 20/21 home shirt, which takes inspiration from the shirt that he Giallorosso wore in their 1980 Coppa Italia triumph. That shirt is also complemented by a bespoke training collection that has become a signature for Nike’s top teams this season.

It was recently announced that AS Roma and Nike had mutually agreed to terminate their partnership ahead of the 2023 culmination, but that a new agreement would see the Swoosh supplying the Italian side with their kits for the 20/21 season. And so here is the AS Roma 20/21 home shirt – the last of what has become a glorious partnership, one we’ll be sad to see the back of.

As for the design, it takes inspiration from a classic. This summer marks 40 years since Roma’s victory in the 1980 Coppa Italia, a triumph that marked a successful end to a memorable two-year period for the club where it wore the famous and distinctive gradient kit known affectionately as the ‘ghiacciolo’ (‘ice lolly’) – another beloved creation of the late Piero Gratton, the father of the Lupetto badge. The new kit proudly displays those horizontal Giallorossi stripes across the chest once more, for a bold, throwback sign off to the Nike x Roma partnership.

This is a modern interpretation of one of Roma’s most famous and unconventional kits ever,” said Scott Munson, VP Nike Football Apparel. “We’ve taken a linear gradient striped design, using a very traditional club color palette, to create a kit that we hope the team and supporters will wear with great pride.

The shirt is then joined by a full training collection, with the new 20/21 training tee instantly grabbing attention with its eye-catching all-over graphic print. Further throwback feels are spread across the Anthem Jacket and drill top thanks to the block colour selection, while the apparel is backed up by caps and balls. Get it while you can, this is soon to be history.
