Metalwood x adidas Skateboarding Drop a Suede-Soaked Predator Sala

The worlds of football, skate and… golf(?) collide and are mashed up for Metalwood Studio and adidas Skateboarding’s Predator Sala.

Metalwood Studio and adidas are teeing off together for 2026, and predictably, they’re doing it their own way. First teased quietly to insiders during Paris Fashion Week 2025, the collaboration now steps into the spotlight – a crossover that drags anti-establishment golf culture straight onto the football pitch, the fairway, and the street. The Predator Sala is a silhouette that already carries cult indoor pedigree, but now it gets completely flipped through Metalwood’s irreverent lens.

The biggest switch-up comes in the materials. Metalwood strips out the traditional synthetic performance upper and replaces it with shaggy suede, immediately blurring the lines between terrace footwear, skate shoe, and five-a-side essential. Glossy leather hits land on the Three Stripes and heel, adding contrast and just enough shine to balance the chaos.

The colourway does the rest of the talking. Deep burgundy and black dominate the palette, delivering a moody, almost heritage feel – sophisticated, but never safe. It’s a Predator that feels just as comfortable under flickering indoor lights as it does getting scuffed on concrete.

Importantly, the indoor football DNA remains intact. The low-profile Sala tooling stays true, ensuring this isn’t just a fashion remix, but a functional nod to the culture that made the silhouette iconic in the first place.

For those new to the name, Metalwood Studio has built its reputation by flipping golf’s traditions inside out. Born in LA, the brand leans hard into lo-fi 90s graphics, bootleg aesthetics, and a complete disregard for country club etiquette. Think thrifted polos, grainy visuals, and a “take it or leave it” attitude that’s resonated far beyond the fairway.

Partnering with adidas – and specifically adidas Skateboarding – feels like a natural escalation. This isn’t a polite collaboration; it’s a collision of subcultures. Golf meets football, skateboarding meets streetwear, and somewhere in the middle sits a Predator Sala that refuses to be boxed in.

What makes this drop hit is its versatility. The Metalwood x adidas Predator Sala doesn’t ask where you’re wearing it – only how. It’s built for indoor ballers, embraced by skaters, coveted by the course and styled for the street. A reminder that football footwear has always been more than performance; it’s identity.

In a landscape obsessed with speed boots and hyper-technical innovation, Metalwood and adidas go the other way – slower, messier, and infinitely cooler. Not country club-friendly. Not pitch-pure. Exactly the point.

The Metalwood x Adidas Skateboarding Predator Sala is set to be available from 16 January at metalwood.studio
