Neymar Jr x Nike Air Max 2090 On The Way

The next sneaker collaboration between Neymar and Nike appears to be set for a release anytime now, with pictures of the new NJR x Air Max 2090 having surfaced. Presented in a "Light Orewood Brown”, the sneaker features callouts to the Brazilian, building on his recent Shox R4 line.

Neymar is known to be a bit of a sneaker head, and that love of trainers led to his own signature Shox series last year, which included the initial R4 release in two colourways, a sublime “Black/Gold” Neymar Shox TL update, before he was then gifted both in gold ahead of Christmas. But now it appears as if the Brazilian is stepping away from the shoe that he so desired growing up to venture into pastures new with a signature take on the Air Max 2090.

The Air Max 2090 launched in January of this year as part of the 30th anniversary celebrations for the Air Max 90. It features a design that shows off what the future of sneakers holds, much as the original Air Max 90 did 30 years prior, mixing a range of classic Air Max 90 elements, including the mudguard, heel logo and cassette feature around the air unit, while introducing some new and altered elements, including different levels opacity on different panels. It’s a radical design that has seen several colourways since, including the Icy “Pure Platinum/White” and “Triple Black”. Now it looks as though there will be not one, but two looks incoming for the Neymar x Air Max 2090.

The first and most publicised sees the beige base of the “Light Orewood Brown” release joined by hits of pink, yellow, green, and orange throughout the upper. Signature details specific to the PSG striker feature on the upper, while his new logo features on the insole. It's an all round more toned down look when compared to the initial look of his signature Shox R4, and it looks set to be joined by a black and gold number that’s more in keeping with the look of his Shox TL.

No official word on a release date for either colourway of the Neymar x Air Max 2090, so watch this space for updates.
