Patrick Dorgu is finally finding his feet at Manchester United. There’s no sense of rush about it.

Music, gaming, family, a developing sense of style shaped by those around him are what keeps him ticking, and even now, working back from injury, there’s a steadiness to how he carries himself.

We spent time with the 20-year-old ahead of him presenting an award at the 2026 MOBO Awards. The conversation moved from Dorgu's playlists to life in Manchester and everything in between. Gunna on repeat, a quiet nod to Ed Sheeran, and style references that run from his brother to teammates in the dressing room. It’s a loose portrait, but an honest one.

So Patrick, let’s start with music since you’re heading to the MOBOs. Who’s your go-to artist?

I’d say Gunna. He’s got something for every mood and always gets me in the right zone. ‘south to west’ is probably my favourite.

Any artists people would be surprised to find on your playlist?

Maybe Ed Sheeran. I like some of the slower songs when I’m in that mood.

Good for a singalong on the way to training?

Nah, no singing from me. But I do like those chill tracks.

Any local artists you’ve picked up since moving to Manchester?

Nemzzz. We play him a lot in the dressing room. I was listening to him before I moved as well. I’m getting better at understanding the accent now.

How have you settled into Manchester?

Yeah, it’s been good. It reminds me a bit of Copenhagen. Pretty calm. The weather’s not great, but I’m used to that. Copenhagen has a strong sense of style.

Did that influence you growing up?

A little, but mainly my brother. He’s always had good style, so I’d look at what he was wearing and take ideas from that.

Anything you’ve taken from him that you’d claim as your own?

Probably baggy jeans. I used to only wear trackies and didn’t really like jeans, but I’m getting into them more now.

Who influences your style now? Anyone around you?

[William] Osula for sure. He’s one of my close friends. Kobbie as well, his style is clean. And Josh Zirkzee, very simple, very clean. That’s what I like.

We’ve covered music and fashion before football. How do those things help you?

It’s important, especially now with the injury. There’s a lot of recovery, so it’s good to switch off. I’m into gaming, YouTube, Call of Duty, 2K, Fortnite. I play all of them.

We have to talk about United. That goal at the Emirates, mixed moment?

Yeah, mixed feelings. I knew I’d done something to my hamstring, but at the same time I knew I’d done something big with the goal. It was nice to still give the fans something positive.

When did it really hit you how big United is?

The trip to Malaysia. I didn’t realise how big the club was globally. That was a proper moment.

And finally, away from football, how would you want to be remembered?

Just as a chill guy. Family-oriented, humble. I like being close to my family and enjoying simple things.
