Framed #112 | England v USA

The stage was set at Wembley for Wayne Rooney's 120th and final international appearance as England took on USA. The country's record goalscorer took part in the emotional farewell match, bringing and end to his international career.

Though some may have viewed the move as contrived, there was no doubt in the minds of the supporting crowd who gave the 33-year old their full support for his 33 minute cameo. England Manager Gareth Southgate took the opportunity to field an experimental team – the most inexperienced England team in 40 years, with a combined total of 94 caps in the starting 11, but they did not disappoint.

Rooney was unable to add to his 53 international goals as England coasted to a 3-0 victory in what was an exhibition atmosphere at Wembley. Despite a first England goal for Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold in a Man of the Match performance, and a debut goal for Bournemouth's Callum Wilson, it was Rooney who rightly took the acclaim of the crowd at the final whistle as the curtain finally came down on his England career.
