Robert Lewandowski Trains In Next-Gen PUMA Future

Further strengthening suspicions that he may well be set to leave Nike for pastures new, Robert Lewandowski has been spotted in the blackout prototype PUMA boot while training with the Poland national team, giving a nice look at the upcoming release.

We recently alluded to the fact that Robert Lewandowski might be one of several high profile players to leave the Swoosh in what is a transitional period for the American brand, and that theory has now gained further weight after the Bayern hitman was seen in what appears to be a prototype of the next-generation of the Future silo.

Since we got out first glimpse of this new boot on the feet of Brandon Williams, numerous pros have been seen trialling it, including Neymar, for whom this could well be the line that the Brazilian fronts. There’s been no indication of another silo disrupting the PUMA roster following the Ultra unceremoniously taking the ONE’s place in the lineup, and there’s no way that this is an upgrade on that boot as it has literally only just come out, all of which indicates that it is likely the future of the Future.

Lewandowski has clearly opted for laces on his boots, in contrast to Williams’ laceless approach, so are laces set to be optional on the new Future? The Future has always boasted a fully customisable lacing system as one of its calling cards, and there have been several notable players – including Marco Reus – that have played in them sans the strings. But PUMA have yet to release a proper laceless boot, and it looks unlikely that the this version of the Future will be it. Although we wouldn’t count the German brand heading that way in the near future. No pun intended.

A Nike athlete for the last decade, Lewandowski clearly seems to be trialling PUMA’s options after he was also seen training in a blacked out version of the Ultra 1.1. Does this confirm that he’s set to make the switch once his Nike contract expires? And is he certain to move to PUMA, or could another brand swoop in to capture his signature? All questions that will be answered over the coming months.
