Sadio Mané and New Balance Football have collaborated on a limited edition Furon v5 Maagum boot that celebrates his Senegalese heritage with a special edition design carrying personal meaning for a player that will carry the hopes of a nation this summer.

The word “Maagum” is Wolof for ‘Rise’ in homage to the ‘Simb of Senegal’ which is an artistic ritual celebrating the transformation of a man into a lion. The Furon v5 boots take on a crisp white base with a lion fir graphic running throughout the striped formation. Sadio Mané's name features on the heels of both boots, while a fiery combination of orange and red bring the colour.

Only 405 pairs will be available, one for each kilometre travelled by Sadio from his hometown Bambaly to the Senegalese capital, Dakar, to attend his first football trials. The Liverpool FC frontman later went onto join the Senegalese football academy where his journey to becoming a lion began. “I’m so proud to have a boot that celebrates my connection to my homeland. New Balance’s design team have done a fantastic job of creating a design that represents my football journey and my Senegalese heritage,” said Mané.

Each pair is individually numbered on the heel and further signature details are found on the laces aglets as the dates of Mané's first cap and goal are shouted out. A stunning display of signature style for New Balance's main man, and the perfect recognition that could see him cap a Champions League winning season with an international accolade.

As for the boot itself, the exclusive aesthetic is wrapped around the new-generation New Balance Furon v5 this is built for speed, power and precision. Data-driven directional stud placement is used for an ultra-aggressive take-off, alongside Fantom Fit full-foot skeleton for targeted lockdown explosive acceleration. The bonded mesh upper and integrated low-profile track collar brings that natural locked-in feel.
