Paris loves a secret, and last week Nike, PSG and Snipes turned that love to the max, putting on the biggest hush-hush street football event of the year with ‘La Cage’. It was invite-only, phone-down kind of energy, with some serious ballers tearing up the cage and a kit launch like no other.
Paris Saint-Germain and Nike took their latest kit launch off the pitch and straight back to the streets this weekend, staging a secret cage tournament in the French capital to unveil the club’s 25/26 third shirt. The event, dubbed ‘La Cage’, saw a raw, small-sided tournament unfold inside a floodlit concrete court. It was an atmosphere built on Paris’ street football DNA, a reminder that the city’s cages still remain a part of PSG identity.
The location, an abandoned building amongst the hustle and bustle of the Champs-Elysees, was kept under wraps until the last minute. Inside, attendees were transported back 20 years into an atmosphere filled with rebellious T90 energy, where football nostalgia and contemporary creativity collided. There, the new 25/26 PSG third kit dropped under floodlights, smoke, and a soundtrack pulled straight from the city’s underground. A moment that won’t be forgotten any time soon.
This event didn’t just bring nostalgia, it immersed fans into an era where rebellion thrived, taking us straight back to Total 90, when joga bonito and street football ruled. If you know, you know. This event was all about retro décor, rustic surroundings, and serious ballers. But taking the spotlight was the bold new third kit, where Total 90 aesthetics were met with a sharp, modern look, ready to take on the new season. The shirt itself fashioned a vivid red paired with popping blue accents, and of course that unmistakeable T90 detailing. Its nostalgia remastered, bridging past, present, and future. The unveiling was framed inside the rustic walls of the location, rewriting the rules of a kit launch completely. This shirt belongs as much to the streets as it does the Parc des Princes.
The moment doubled as a passing of the torch, from one generation to the next. Club legend Pauleta, who played during peak T90, stood alongside current stars Vitinha, Gonçalo Ramos, João Neves, and Warren Zaïre-Emery, all brought together by the brand-new third shirt. All five watched on as the boys and girls’ finals took place in La Cage, before joining the winners in the steel confinement to present them with their prize. Game respects game.
Before the ballers headed off, we got some time to speak with them about the brand-new PSG third kit and their aspirations this season. When asked his thoughts on the new threads, Vitinha said “The kit is beautiful, I said before it’s alternative, it’s a little bit different but I like it. It’s a little vintage so it’s perfect.” Whilst João Neves added “For PSG, red and blue are a perfect combination. I think it is beautiful, and I can’t wait to wear it.”
Speaking on last season’s success and how they look to move forward, he stated “It’s difficult to improve in titles, but we can improve the way we play and that’s our focus. And of course, try to win.” Whilst Gonçalo Ramos added “I also think improving is to win everything again, because that is continuing the work we started last season.”
Fans didn’t have to wait long to watch the new threads make their debut, as PSG wore it during their Ligue 1 opener against FC Nantes on Sunday. From cage to stadium in 48 hours… Straight into action. And, of course, it got it's first win – looks like PSG are continuing where they left off last season...
This wasn’t just your average kit launch. Nike x PSG is a statement, a partnership that never stops hitting the marks. By dropping some T90 heat inside the cages of Paris underground, they have turned this kit into a cultural moment for the French capital.
