The Nike 2005/06 Barcelona Ronaldinho Reissue Jersey is Nostalgic Perfection

Some football shirts become so synonymous with a single player that seeing the design instantly brings their name to mind. For Barcelona’s 2006 home kit, that player is unmistakably Ronaldinho.

Debuted by the men's first team squad ahead of their game against Rayo Vallecano this weekend, Barça and Nike have re-released the legendary 2005/06 home jersey, and I have to say: I absolutely love it. It’s the latest example of Nike really committing to digging back into their frankly ridiculous archive. Sure, on paper it’s “just another retro drop,” but this one hits top bins. It’s pure, distilled nostalgia, a tribute not only to one of the greatest teams ever assembled, but to the era, the attitude, and the player who defined it all.

That season delivered Barcelona’s second Champions League title with a 2–1 win over Arsenal and another LaLiga trophy for the cabinet. The squad was stacked, but no one cast a cultural shadow quite like Ronaldinho. He wasn’t just the star; he was the mood, the soundtrack, the highlight reel of mid‑2000s football.

And who could forget the moment that’s still talked about today: the 3–0 demolition of Real Madrid at the Bernabéu, with Ronaldinho scoring twice and playing at a level so unreal that even the Madrid fans stood and applauded him. That doesn’t happen. But for Ronaldinho, it did. That same year he collected the Ballon d’Or, beating Lampard and Gerrard – two of the Premier League's greats – and cementing his place as the defining player of the era.

This reissue nails the aesthetic of the time: the classic Nike Total 90 template, bold blaugrana stripes, era‑specific TV3 and LaLiga patches, and those clean yellow accents that tie the whole faithful package together. It’s the sort of design that instantly transports you back to a very specific moment in the sport, one where joy, swagger, and creativity were embodied by a single player.

Ultimately, this shirt is a celebration of Ronaldinho, a player who didn’t just play football, but changed football. His smile, his spontaneity, his magic… he means so much to so many, catapulting a new generation of ballers into the game and changing the very way the game was played. This shirt represents all that and so much more. Grab it while you can.
