After such a huge success last season, the SoccerBible proudly welcomes the return of the Gospels Awards - our definitive football boots and gear awards for the season passed. Next up for your voting pleasure is the Best Power Football Boots of 2009/10.
The shortlist of nominees are drawn up from the football boots on general release that the soccer-loving public (thats us and you!) have been able to buy during the 2009/10 season. The reigning champion in the power boot category is the adidas Predator PowerSwerve Rome Edition, but which of the following football boots will take the title this year...?

Over 200 countries are voting in this year's Gospels... One World, One Game.

Power Football Boots Nominee: adidas Predator X
The tenth release in the iconic Predator series was the most speculated and controversial to date. Gone were the large fold over tongue and exaggerated vamps that had become staples of the Predator series and in came a new Tarus leather and rubber-silicon mix material. Die-hard Predator fans were up in arms, but the X won a whole new series of fans thanks to its reliable performance, comfort fit and legacy.

Power Football Boots Nominee: Mizuno Wave Ignitus
A new comer to the category and one that even we admit took us by surprise - the Wave Ignitus takes over the reign from the Shinken series with a ridiculously lightweight upper and unique swerve and control tech. Our Play Test team were big fans of the Ignitus as we welcomed the addition of another brand to the Power category so dominated by Nike and adidas.

Power Football Boots Nominee: Nike T90 Laser III
As another hotly anticipated release from Nike hit the shelves, suddenly everywhere you could spot Electric Green Lasers. Thanks in part to some great Rooney performances, the third release in the Laser series ended up being Nike's most dominant silo in the Boot Race overtaking the Mercurial series. Fortunately also for more subtle players, there were some other options available besides the loud green colourway!

Power Football Boots Nominee: Puma PowerCat 1.10
The power category had not been Puma's strongest recently, with the v-Konstrukt series struggling to make much of an impact against its rivals. However this all changed with the release of the Power Cat - a sleeker, comfier and way more stylish release by Puma. A complete re-design and more focused approach gave us a k-leather upper crammed with new accuracy and power enhancing features - all wrapped up in a design that was a million miles away from the v-Konstrukt!

Power Football Boots Nominee: Reebok Valde Pro II
With such strong competition, boot manufacturers are always trying something different to help make their product stand out. But the second generation Valde Pro's stuck to a tried and tested formula, we reckon thanks largely to influence from parent company adidas. Visually one of the nicer looking power boots, the Valde is a widely underrated boot that deserves more attention.
