Football News > Christmas Most Wanted Football Boots - The Top 10

When it comes to getting your hands on a new pair of football boots, the holiday season is one of the busiest and best times of the year! This year we've seen a mad rush of new football boots just in time for the festive period.

For Nike, adidas and PUMA, it's a brand battle for the Christmas no.1 spot - last year the adidas Predator adiPower Black/Warning/White was your most wanted boot. Check out which high-flying boots have made the top 10 for 2012.

Nike GS2 – This years Christmas no.1 is (surprise, surprise) the ground-breaking Nike GS2. Released back in November amid a storm of publicity and hype, they've quickly become the most desirable boots on the planet. Nike backed their second generation GS with higher numbers, knowing demand would be high! They weren't wrong.

Nike Vapor VIII CR – Nike claim the top 2 spots in this year's Christmas most wanted. At no.2 is the Mercurial Vapor VIII CR – one of the most successful boots of 2012. Cristiano Ronaldo's fourth signature shoe has been his most popular yet. A boot that fuses modern and traditional design, the Vapor VIII CR has shifted some serious numbers! Don't own a pair? Then chances are you know someone who does...or you will in 2013!

adidas Predator LZ Black/Red/White – Undeniably the best and most popular Predator LZ colourway to date. Adidas kept us waiting for a traditionally designed Predator LZ but finally delivered with this release in November. Marked by Steven Gerrard's 100th England cap, these beauties continue to be one of the most wanted boots in the game.

Adidas f50 adizero Leather Yellow/Black/Green – adidas' headline speed boot makes it in at no.4. With record-breaking superstar Lionel Messi continuing to re-write the rule books wearing the redesigned f50, they're popularity was never going to be in danger! As for the upper, it's the leather editions that are in highest demand this Christmas.

adiPURE SL Black/Black/Pop - One of our favourite boots of 2012, it's hard not to be a fan of the Black/Black/Pop adidas adiPURE SL. Despite no on-pitch player support, they have broken into your top 5 of most wanted boots for Xmas 2012. Much like the black-out adiPure for those with a bigger budget, the adiPURE SL packs enough modern flair for any player! If you have a taste for black-outs, don't look much further.

adidas Predator LZ SL Silver/Green/Black - We don't hear too much from the Predator LZ SL. Even so, they're one of adidas' top-tier statement boots and with two strong colourways towards the end of the year, their popularity has risen just at the right time. In at no.6 is the Silver/Green/Black colourway that also double up as a mirror so you can see your own reaction when you open the boots on Xmas day!

Adidas f50 adizero miCoach Black/White/Green – Our favourite of adidas' two launch colourways, the secondary adizero design has be well received by players at every level. It's no surprise to see them in the top 10 this Christmas. It's been a hard battle for the f50 this holiday season with the Nike GS and Mercurial CR dominating the headlines. When it comes to speed boots though, the f50 is still leading the charge.

PUMA evoSPEED SL Green/Blue/Yellow - A late entry from PUMA. The surprise release of an SL edition to the popular evoSPEED line has earned them a place in the top 10 this Christmas. The Green/Blue/Yellow design used across the complete evoSPEED collection has been well received. Combine this with the boots supercharged perforated design and the evoSPEED SL has quickly become one of the hottest boots in town.

adidas Predator LZ Black/Pink/Iron – The third Predator LZ in your top ten this Xmas is the super-slick Black/Pink/Iron Pred SL. The adidas 'SL' range feature some of the most premium boots on the market. If premium top-tier boots are your thing, then the Predator LZ SL ticks all of the right boxes. A toned-down alternative to it's silver relation, they just break into the Xmas top 10 at no.9.

PUMA evoSPEED Ducati SL – Released back in October, PUMA's final collaboration of 2012 just hangs on to the no.10 spot as one of the most popular boots this Christmas. They go down as one of the year's lightest football boots weighing a staggering 165g. A collectors item or a luxury for your local league. Either way, these have been a big hit!

I like the Black Adizeros the best, but I agree that the Pred LZ SL is a terrible looking boot, and I think that the best looking leather boot out at the moment is the previuos Puma King SL, in the Blue/Yellow colourway in particular. I wish they cost at most £80 right now not £112 or whatever it is on Pro-Direct Soccer right now, I'd send back my Green/Orange/Black Mizuno Wave Ignitus 2 MDs for those!

All horrible... CR7's are the only ones I'm vaguely interested in, but I'm not a fan of the pink.  Still wating for a good adizero colourway.

Struggling to shift those GS2s?! Plenty of pairs of GS2 left yet the original sold out on pre-orders alone before launch. Maybe the lesson here Nike is don't put massive playstation symbols on the side of your boot and charge a premium for it. Glad I got my MV8 CR7s as they are the boots of 2012 ah yeh.
