Football News > Champions League Boot Race - 04/10/12

The race to become the Champions League top goal scoring boot continued this week, as round two of the group stage kicked off. Cristiano Ronaldo became the eighth player to reach 40 career Champions League goals against Ajax while Schalke's Julian Draxler, at 19 years and 13 days old, became the youngest German goalscorer in the tournaments history.

Spanish champions Real Madrid tightened their grip on group D courtesy of Cristiano Ronaldo's first ever Champions League hat-trick. Ronaldo's three-goal romp was the highlight of another impressive week for the Mercurial Vapor which was on the end of 14 goals, taking its runaway total to 25.

Robin Van Persie was on target again for Manchester United who made hard work of their away trip to Romania. The Dutchman bagged a brace to beat CFR Cluj in United's Group H clash. In the interest of competition, we've included Van Persie's goals in the Predator LZ total, despite the striker still wearing the Predator adiPower! Including RVP's goals, the Predator was on target six times this week.

European Champions Chelsea claimed their first win in this season's Champions League with a commanding performance against Nordsjaelland. Juan Mata's brace was complimented by goals from David Luiz and Ramires in a good night for Nike football boots. Could this new-look Chelsea side become the first club to retain the Champions League title? The whispers have begun already.

Elsewhere goals from PUMA duo Marco Reus and Cesc Fabregas ensured the PowerCat earned a place on the leader board. The young German international was terrific, putting Dortmund into a 1-0 lead against Manchester City. The Premier League champions salvaged a draw with a last gasp penalty from Mario Balotelli.

In the capital, Mercurial striker Gervinho added to his Champions League goal tally in Arsenal's 3-1 win over Olympiakos. It was one of Arsenal's least convincing performances of the season so far, but with adidas duo Lukas Podolski and Aaron Ramsey helping secure a 3-1 home win Gunners fans will not mind. Two wins out of two means Arsenal have one foot in the knock-out stage.

They cant have sponsors because it promotes gambling, just like when liverpool where sponsored by carling they where not allowed it because it obviously poromotes drink.  Basically any sponsor that promotes things with an age limit are prohibited.
