Football News > Nike Maxim Football - Premier League, Serie A & La Liga Match Ball

Following much anticipation, we can bring you up close to the new Nike Maxim – the match ball to be used across the EPL, La Liga and Serie A leagues for the 2012/13 season. The Nike Maxim follows in the company’s long line of elite match balls, designed to meet the highest standards in performance.

As Nike's twelfth official European match-ball, the Maxim succeeds the popular Seitiro. In similar fashion to previous seasons, the Premier League, La Liga and Serie A will receive league specific colourways of the Maxim ahead of the 2012/13 season. These will be released alongside the standard version as featured here.

In the battle of the balls, there is a fierce rivalry between Nike and adidas. Despite adidas owning the rights on the international stage, the Nike swoosh gets those invaluable seconds on screen before every EPL, La Liga and Serie A match kicks off. Thanks to this association, Nike have become the recognised brand of Europe's elite leagues.

For over a decade Nike have continued to deliver new levels of performance innovation. The Nike Maxim football uses RaDaR (Rapid Decision and Response) visual technology. The lab and field tested standard of visual performance allows players to see the ball better.

This combination of visual technology with the newly designed graphics and contrast creates an optimal signal picture on the pitch, allowing players to make faster decisions and stay ahead of the game.

The engineering of Nike's elite-level match ball has stayed the same since the 2009/10 Ascente ball. The Nike Maxim stays true to the successful Geo II design, incorporating technology that allows the ball to travel faster, longer and truer than any other ball.

The synthetic casing on the Nike Maxim football creates a golf ball dimple effect, allowing players to have total control of the flight and movement of the ball. The five layer construction provides optimal first touch, while a 360 sweet spot gives a consistent response when striking the ball.

Whether you'll be tuning into the EPL, La Liga, or Serie A, these are the three match balls set to be used by each of Europe's top divisions. In terms of colourways, it's the Serie A ball that always catches our eye! Expect to see the Nike Maxim in action from early pre-season fixtures as we countdown to another exciting campaign.

The Nike Maxim football is available to order now and is priced at around £85 / €100 EURO / $150 USD. The non-league standard version will combine with each league-branded ball to give you a choice of four designs.

As always, we'd love to hear you opinions on the new Nike Maxim football and how it compares to some of Nike's previous designs!

i like the gradual aesthetic design progression over the years from nike, it would of seemed crazy to jump from the first red/blue hoops straight to this and i think it would of divided opinions but they let it evolve over the years, and judging from the previous comments its a winner!

Think the design looks great, if i had £85 to spend on a ball i would invest in one, but as for making players see the ball better i'm not to sure, never ever heard a player say..."due to the design of the ball, i just could not see it, this is what i blame for today's performance" lol

hey sweetie. I've seen myself a lot of time. but once I said him to use punctuations, so everyone could understand what hes saying (he wrote like 5 sentences in which he asked question and there wasn't a single punctuation), than he called me as he could call himself. and then he comes to a lot of threads and posts ingorant, useless, instulting comments.  :)

I prefer the Nike Match balls over the adidas Match balls.  The adidas ones feel too light and fly funny.  Don't get me wrong, Nike balls will deform and become lopsided if you treat them wrong.
