Football News > Euro 2012 Boot Spotting - Group Stage Round Up

Euro 2012 is really hotting up now. We've had the return of Wazza, a 100% German win record, and a woeful Dutch exit. Luckily there were some new football boots on show to keep us entertained. With the quarter finals on the horizon, it's time to take a look back at the best boots to grace the group stages.

Wayne Rooney (England) Nike Clash T90 Laser IV

England's talisman Wayne Rooney made a goal-scoring return wearing his Nike Clash T90 Laser IV football boots. England overcame Ukraine with a 1-0 victory, securing their position as group winners. Wayne might have been a touch off the pace, but with one goal in one game there is hope for England heading into the knock-out stages.

Samir Nasri (France) adidas f50 adizero miCoach

Not many players make a switch in football boots half way through an international tournament. After a string of influential performances for France, Samir Nasri stepped out for the final group game wearing a pair of f50 adizero miCoach football boots. Could the Manchester City winger and recent Predator LZ convert be making a return to his old footwear?

Mario Gomez (Germany) Puma evoSPEED 1

Equipped with his new Puma evoSPEED 1 football boots, Mario Gomez has finally found some international goal scoring form. Following an opening game brace against Holland and a goal against Portugal, Gomez has netted three of the evoSPEED's four Euro 2012 goals. Germany certainly look like the team to beat this year having won all three of their group games.

Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal) Nike Clash Mercurial Vapor VIII

He may have netted 60 goals for Real Madrid last season, but Cristiano Ronaldo's appetite for success on the international stage is still in question. A mesmerising performance in Portugal's final group game with Holland silenced some doubters, as he fired a brace wearing his unmistakeable Nike Clash Mercurial Vapor VIII football boots. Could Portugal be the dark horse in this years tournament? With Ronaldo in the right mood, just maybe.

Ivan Rakitic (Croatia) adidas Predator LZ

Ivan Rakitic came close to knocking out the World and European Champions after failing to score with a second-half header against Spain in the final group game. With an inspiring performance against the tournament favourites, Rakitic was arguably Croatia's best players throughout the group matches. The Sevilla player was wearing the Red/Black adidas Predator LZ football boots.

Antonio Di Natale (Italy) Asics Lethal Tigreor 5

Italy striker Antonio Di Natale ensured his Asics Lethal Tigreor 5 football boots earned a place on the Euro 2012 score sheet. The Udinese veteran netted against the Republic of Ireland as Italy finished second place in their group behind Spain. A quarter final date with England awaits, with Di Natale battling it out with Mario Balotelli for a starting place.

Cesc Fabregas (Spain) Puma PowerCat 1.12

With Barcelona amigos Xavi, Iniesta, and Busquets currently forcing Fabregas out of his favoured position in the Spanish line-up, Cesc has found himself rotating with Fernando Torres up front. Against Italy, the Barcelona no.4 started and scored wearing his Puma PowerCat 1.12 boots – notably with a Puma King sole-plate – before also netting against the Republic of Ireland. Not a band squad player ey?

Robert Lewandowski (Poland) Nike Clash T90 Laser IV

Bundesliga Player of the Season and scorer of 22 goals, Lewandowski was one of the players to watch for this tournament, and got off to a great start scoring the first goal of Euro 2012! A lead assets for the Clash Collection T90 Laser alongside Wayne Rooney, Poland were never expected to go far in the tournament but Lewandowski and his team-mates performed well in their three games.

Tomas Hubschman (Czech Republic) adidas Predator Absolute

Forget Lethal Zones and forget Sprint Frames, just give Tomas Hubschman a good old-fashioned adidas Predator. A no-mess football boot with a solid construction that does the job! Hubschman has been sporting a pair of Predator Absolutes, which are still many Pred fans' favourite boot, and as he's chosen the Beckham versions are a great look with the Czech Republic kit.

Andriy Shevchenko (Ukraine) Nike Clash Tiempo Legend IV

What makes large tournaments like Euro 2012 so special, is the list of footballing greats who gather and write their own headlines! Shevchenko has admitted he extended his playing career to appear in front of his home crowd at the Euro's, and Shevchenko duly delivered a performance of a national hero scoring twice to defeat Sweden. Interestingly, the Ukrainian forward is now wearing Nike Tiempo football boots, after wearing Reebok's for a large portion of his career.

Nicklas Bendtner (Denmark) Nike Clash Mercurial Vapor VIII

Bendtner seems to have quite an affinity to pink and Nike Vapors, as a couple of years ago he was the lead star for the very memorable Rosa (Pink) Vapors. The Clash Collection Vapor football boots aren't quite as eye-catching as the originals, but still look good on-pitch and Bendtner can proudly say he's scored two goals whilst wearing the boots.

Mario Balotelli (Italy) Nike Clash CTR360 Maestri II

One of football's true characters, everyone seems enthralled by what Balotelli might do next! But what Balotelli has done at Euro 2012 is score a well-taken goal and worn the Nike Clash Collection football boots, and the white/blue colour combination lends itself perfectly to the Azzuri.

Giorgos Tzavelas (Greece) Nike Tiempo Premier

It's great to see in amongst all the brand new and brightly coloured football boots, there is a player who's picked out a classic pair to wear. Greece's Giorgos Tzavelas is wearing some Nike Tiempo Premier's, a modern day reproduction of the boot that kicked off the Tiempo range back at the 1994 World Cup and were worn by the likes of Paolo Maldini and Romario.

Aleksandr Anyukov (Russia) Nike Tiempo IV Custom

Interesting footwear on show from Russia's Aleksandr Anyukov, who looked to be wearing a custom pair of Tiempo IV's built by Nike featuring the Legend III tongue. However, perhaps due to a contract or endorsement dispute, Anyukov has blacked out the Nike branding!
