Football News > adidas Predator LZ Football Boots - They Call Him Pass

The imminent reveal of the adidas Predator LZ has sparked a wave of excitement as adidas continue to unveil the next generation Predator. Ahead of their starring role in tonight’s UCL semi-final match between Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, the three stripes lift the lid on their fourth Predator Lethal Zone – 'Pass'.

The adidas Predator is one of the most revolutionary football boots of all time, no other boot range has undergone quite as dramatic a change in the past 18 years. As adidas continue to evolve and develop the Predator range, they are once again entering new territory with their concept of Lethal Zones.

Such is the significance and importance of the Lethal Zones and the performance benefits they bring, that adidas have chosen to periodically unveil the new Predator LZ football boots. Already we've seen 'First Touch', 'Drive' and 'Sweet Spot'.

'Pass' is the next Lethal Zone to be revealed on the adidas Predator LZ football boots. The memory foam on the medial side of the boot ensures consistency of passing, and a 3-D sticky print with large surface area increases ball contact time for more precise passing.

The three stripes have recruited some of their top athletes including Kaka, Robin Van Persie, Nani, Samir Nasri and Xavi who are all sporting the special edition white-out football boots, which just have the relevant Lethal Zones highlighted.

With the 'Pass' zone revealed, let's remind ourselves of the first three zones so we can start to build a picture of what to expect from the adidas Predator LZ.

'First Touch' are the rubber zones on the forefoot area of the boot, which act as a cushioning platform on the synthetic upper with the aim of giving immediate ball control. 'Drive' is the raised and thicker 3-D shape on the inside of the boot, which follows the natural shape of the instep to create a rebound effect for greater distance and power. 'Sweet Spot' is the smaller surface area on the medial side of the boot that generates greater spin and pace.

As one of the most iconic names in football, the Predator series has been at the forefront of Power boot design for nearly two decades. Now we're on the verge of another milestone in the boots history which will see the adidas Predator LZ combine five Lethal Zones.

Let us know what you think of the adidas Predator LZ football boots from what you've seen so far, and join
the conversation online, on Twitter and on Facebook. Of course, stay tuned to SoccerBible for the latest info and images surrounding one of the most exciting boot releases of the year.

Before the 3 pictures at the end, the 'drive' and 'sweet spot' descriptions are wrong. I thought drive was the large part of the instep and the sweet spot was the small area for spin?

I really really dislike all these drip feed marketing stuff. I was pretty excited about the new Predators where as now I just feel annoyed when I think of them.

I know I'm not alone and hope Adidas take note that this frustrating marketing strategy actually puts me off the boots rather than excites me.

If this didn't have a pass pad people wouldn't be saying it's a copy of the CTR. Pass pads have been around for a while you know...let the boot do the talking when it's released!

@diegobarca10 Most control boots do actually help, as they have control elements such as the LZs which stops spin and kills the balls flight and speed.

i don't care what any1 says, these are a power boot oh so what if they'v'e gone down in weight to be about 3 ounce heavier than f50 they have done a lot of research and they will try to keep the power there there is a little bit of control in the boot but its more of a powerboot and the colours will stay conservative but with a choice of brighter colours.
