Football News > adidas Unveil New Signing Iker Casillas

While the January transfer window has failed to offer many headline stories, adidas have landed their first major signing of the year! Spain and Real Madrid shot stopper Iker Casillas has penned a new deal with the German giants, leaving behind an eleven year partnership with Reebok.

Casillas will finally ditch his Reebok Instante II Pro football boots, as the brand continue to disappear from the football landscape. Unsurprisingly, adidas have kitted out their new signing with the adiPower Predator in time for the second half of the La Liga season. The signing of Casillas was well timed by adidas, with Real Madrid in poll position to win the Spanish League title. If Casillas can captain his side to another La Liga crown, he will be lifting the trophy wearing a pair of adidas Response Pro gloves!

The unveiling recently took place at the Santiago Bernabeu store, with adidas confirming their newest recruit. Casillas took to his Facebook page saying, ''Today is a special day for me as I join a new family, adidas. I'm sure I will have many great moments with them. I also have to thank Reebok for eleven great years.'' To mark the signing, adidas also released a 'Casillas Is All In'' video, inducting the Real Madrid keeper into the adidas hall of fame. Our Spanish is a little rusty so any translations would be appreciated!

His days with Reebok were always numbered, and now adidas will be hoping their newest signing can lead Real Madrid and Spain to domestic and international glory this summer wearing the three stripes! Let us know what you think of the move. Join the conversation online, on Twitter and on Facebook.

@Spartak53adidaS

Your name suggests you're a massive adi fan, clearly you are not.

Reebok and adi are still different entities. Yes they are owned by the same people, but they still remain as two, not one.

You're only right in saying it's 'clever' because adidas have been clever in signing the best Goalkeeper in the world but you're absolutely wrong in the context you meant.

He pauses a little while in front of Nadia Comaneci, most likely admiring her (hence the zoom in).  I fully expected him to flinch upon seeing Messi shooting.
