Football News > Steven Pienaar Signs with PUMA

The Puma v1.11 adds another high-profile African player to their ranks. At this time of the year, it's not just clubs that are signing players! Step forward South African captain and Tottenham ace Steven Pienaar! Fresh from launching their partnership with the South African FA, Puma have announced a long term endorsement agreement with the Bafana Bafana man!

Pienaar becomes one of the leading global icons for the Puma speed boots, joining the likes of Puma veteran Samuel Eto'o and v1.11 Barca youngster Ibrahim Affelay. Steven will call time on his career-long adidas playing days, with Puma's new partnership beginning immediately.

Steven Pienaar said “I am very happy to have signed this deal with Puma. Having been involved in the South Africa National team kit launch last month I was seriously impressed with Puma’s commitment to Africa, they have such a strong heritage in African football and their support for this continent is unquestionable. Knowing all this, and having tested the v1.11 which is a fantastic boot, it was an easy decision to sign with Puma and I am pleased to have done so.”

Puma's high profile within African football continues to expand by the day. South Africa recently became the thirteenth African international team to be outfitted by Puma joining (ready for it) Egypt, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Algeria, Senegal, Morocco, Togo, Burkina Faso, Equatorial Guinea, Malawi and Namibia!
