Football News > The adizero Speed Week

This week saw the conclusion of the adidas Speed Week. Adidas and lucky competition winners have been meeting some of the biggest names who will be stepping foot in the new adizero boots...

Adidas wrapped things up with Lionel Messi in Barcelona this week after 7 days of promotional touring for the adizero's. Adidas put together a great way for fans to not only get their hands on the lucrative adizero Prime's but to also meet some of their heroes.

The final speed event took place in Barcelona where 10 lucky competition winners got to meet the worlds greatest player, Lionel Messi, who will be making the hugely anticipated debut of the new adizero Prime football boots this weekend.

Earlier in the week in London, as part of the adizero launch, adidas held a competition for people to try and find the 'stolen' footwear of Tottenham striker Jermaine Defoe and World Heptathlon Champion Jessica Ennis! Adidas challenged the public to find Jermain Defoe's boots and return them to him in person and also win a pair of signed boots for themselves! People were also given the chance to return athlete Jessica Ennis's adizero running shoes.

When the event got underway at a location in London, SoccerBible were on hand to bring you all the behind the scene images along with an interview from the Tottenham man himself! Jermain spoke exclusivley to SoccerBible about his new adidas adizero Prime football boots. Be sure to stay tuned to SoccerBible tomorrow to see what Jermain had to say about his new boots and when he's planning to wear them!

Jermain Defoe along with British athlete Jessica Ennis were introduced to the competition winners and then put through their paces in a series of speed tests. Jermain's new adizero Prime football boots were on show but they were both equipped with the latest adizero running shoes for the exercises.

Jermain and Jessica were both put throught a slightly different kind of speed test as well. Prior to the event, fans were posting questions to the two via twitter. The athletes were both put the test with the Speed Week Twitter Challenge from adidas. Defoe answered 5 questions from SoccerBible readers with the answers posted from our @SoccerBible Twitter account.

After the speed exercises and the Twitter Challenge, Jermain and SoccerBible got down to business to talk boots! We chatted exclusivley to Jermain in detail about the new adidas adizero Prime football boots, how he works on his speed, and of course Tottenham! We'll bring you the full and exclusive interview soon only on SoccerBible!

After there's been some time to reflect, what are your thoughts on the new adizero football boots? Do you think they will make an impact this weekend when they officially take to the stage?

Like you can see, Adizero's on the first pictures with Leo Messi are just "SAMPLE" , and also on the third picture. You can see, on the front of the shoes, there isn't the white stripe on the black part.

Compare them to the picture with Jermaine Defoe.

The second difference is the laces. On Messi picture, it's not the ultra light kevlar laces, and compare it to the Defoe picture, you'll see !

because I'm sponsored by adidas, I also have 2 pairs of Sample Adizero Prime Orange, 1x FG and 1x SG, and there is little differences with Prime which be avaible on February !

As one of the lucky ten in London, it was a great day with jermain and Jessica. The guys from adidas put on a great event, the sprint sessions were fun and useful, for both track and football. It will be great training and playing in the f50 primes. As for the training shoe, it's named the f50 runner. I don't think they have been released but they are also well worth the investment, really light and very comfortable running shoes.

if adidas made the primes as much as the first adizeros then they would sell SOOOOOO MUCH MORE than having them at $300-$360

@ Bradford

They don't make Soft Ground Adizero Prime ? Do you need pictures to believe me ? It's a mixed soleplate, with FG and SG.

Yes, I'm sponsored by Adidas. I play in France, in the Formation Center of Paris-Saint-Germain.

The F50s really went downhill after the F50i release in Summer 2009, i thought they had moved up again in 2010 with the Adizero, but like any boot these days adidas released a new version only a few months after the release, this has now put me off adidas f50s.. and back onto the vapor scene who are quite popular now.

Adidas no ridiculously priced advertising campaign is going to get people to buy your ridiculously priced boots! Maybe this was their plan all along, create one of the fastest and greatest shoes of all time for a very very reasonable price and then its sequel you add more technology and make it the lightest boot ever(even though it's only by 5g) and you jack up the price so your now very large following of consumers leaves you with bigger percent of people buying based on having the orig's....
