Football News > Pepe Reina Exclusive Interview - Uhlsport Goalkeeper Gloves

After Pepe Reina kept his 100th clean sheet for the Reds in just 198 league matches, courtesy of a 3-0 victory over Aston Villa, SoccerBible caught up with the
Spanish shot-stopper for a quickfire interview.

He's one of the most charismatic goalkeepers in the game; the fans love Pepe Reina and so do his fellow professionals. Now find out what Pepe looks for in his goalkeeper gloves, what his career highlight is, and why he has to jump onto the pitch with his right foot twice!

SoccerBible: You must be happy with how your gloves are performing, so what are the main features you look for in your gloves?

Pepe Reina:
Yes I like them a lot, as for me it has to be good comfort and fit.

SB: What makes the Uhlsport Ergonomic gloves stand out for you?

PR:
The quality of the product.

SB: What's the first thing you do when you get a new pair?

PR:
I will use in training a few times before I play a match in them.

SB: Do you have any special design/modification requirements?

PR:
I like an extended palm.

SB: How long does one pair last for you?

PR:
One pair will last about 6 weeks.

SB: How many gloves do you take on match day?

PR:
I have three pairs every match.

SB: Do you have any matchday superstitions?

PR:
Many many! For example I have to jump onto the pitch with my right foot twice!

SB: Have you got any memorable gloves or special pairs you've kept?

PR:
My World Cup final gloves. Even though I didn’t play the memories are tied up in that glove.

SB: What would you say is your career highlight?

PR:
There have been a few. World Cup Final, FA Cup Final and Champions League Semi Final versus Chelsea.

SB: And the best goalkeeper of all time?

PR:
Andoni Zubizarreta he played over 100 times for Spain, he was my idol.

u guys are crazy for not rating him, best keeper in the world by far, golden gloves in the prem 4 out of 5 years in the best league in the world? what more do you want from a keeper? he RARELY makes any mistakes, and if he does he carries on with his game and doesnt let it affect his form. quite ridiculous hearing you opinions on him
