Soccerbible lifts the lid on the mystery surrounding Steven Gerrard's unique adidas Predator X football boots. For the last couple of weeks Gerrard has been sporting a bespoke pair of Predator X boots featuring gold detailing, now SoccerBible reveals the story behind the boots...
It seems the Liverpool skipper was given the opportunity to showcase his perfect pair of football boots, with the shape, colour and style all the result of the Gerrard's own design. Courtesy of his sponsor, Steven Gerrard turned his skills to the sketchpad as part of an advertising campaign for mi-adidas at Melwood recently.
In adidas' own words, Gerrard "took to the task with the type of creative genius that has made him such an icon on the pitch". Gerrard himself admitted that he had relished the opportunity to make his own unique boot, telling Liverpoolfc.tv: "This is a concept where you can make and design your own boot, pick your own colours and basically have the boot as you want it to look. In the future there will be more colours to come!"
Gerrard continued: "It's very exciting and I've already designed my first one. I've always been moaning to adidas that I wanted my own boot - I wanted to pick my own colours. It's exciting and fun to do."
Interesting to hear then, that Gerrard who has always been quite selective about the Predator colourways he wears, has actually been asking adidas to create a bespoke pair for him! But thanks to our persistent SoccerBible reporters, we can finally put an end to the speculation surrounding Gerrard's football boots - they were designed by the great man himself!
