It's the midweek update for our troop of boot spotters, checking out the Euro competitions qualifiers and other goings on from around the globe...

Massimo Volta (Sampdoria) Mizuno Wave Ignitus
A back and forth game between Sampdoria and Werder Bremen, which saw defender Volta sporting the Mizuno Wave Ignitus in the soft ground sole plate version. The Italians won the match on the night but missed out on UCL qualification on aggregate to their German opponents.

Escude (Sevilla) adidas adiPure III
Sevilla defender Escude has sported red adiPure's for a while - but recently has switched to these as-yet-unreleased university red/white adidas adiPure III versions, also as seen here against Barcelona in the Supercopa. C'mon adidas, hurry up and release these!

Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid) Nike Mercurial Vapor Superfly
Forgive us for a bit of a gratuitous boot spot here, as the Mercurial icon continues to sport his tried and tested custom mixed sole plate, this time complete with Bright Cactus coloured Nike Mercurial Superfly upper. We're sure you won't have failed to notice he's now also back to the famous CR7 in the Madrid white...

Jesper Gronkjaer (FC Copenhagen) adidas Predator Absolute
We love a retro boot spot here at the SoccerBible, and thought these Predator Absolute's being worn by Copenhagen's Jesper Gronkjaer in their Champions League qualifier look great. The Absolute is a classic Predator from 2006, which looks like it could still cut the mustard at the top levels of the game.

David Villa (Barcelona) adidas F50 adiZero
When the F50 adiZero's were launched, adidas used Lionel Messi as the leather versions' icon and put David Villa in the black/yellow synthetics. So we were surprised to see Villa playing and scoring in the leather Messi chameleon versions in the annual Gamper competition, which Barcelona retained after a penalty victory over AC Milan.

Henri Bienvenu (Young Boys) Puma v1.10
Samuel Eto'o was recently spotted wearing a unique mixed stud sole-plate with his Puma v1.10 SL boots, and our boot spotters noticed the same mixed stud plate was on the v1.10 boots sported by Young Boys striker Bienvenu at White Hart Lane.
| |
We were treated to a real variety of football boots on show this weekend - with some great customised boots, some players switching brand and the usual suspects performing well...
Andy Carroll (Newcastle United)
adidas F50 adiZero
Star player from the weekend, Andy Carroll grabbed himself a hat-trick wearing the leather chameleon adidas F50 adizero boots. Carroll was previously an adiPure wearer, but like so many pro's has made the switch into the popular adiZero range.

Marouane Chamakh (Arsenal)
Nike Vapor VI
Chamakh scored his first Premier League goal as Arsenal ran riot against Blackpool scoring six goals. There had been some debate over whether Chamakh was playing in Superflys or Vapor boots, but as our exclusive picture shows, Chamakh is wearing a pair of Vapor VI football boots with the lace-cover removed.

Dramane Traore (Lokomotiv Moscow) Custom Nike Vapor Supefly II
Here's a great looking pair of customised football boots from Malian player Dramane Traore, incorporating the national colours of his home nation. You can tell from the pattern on the instep that the design is from a Superfly II, however the sole-plate looks to be bespoke.
Tomas Rosicky (Arsenal)
Puma Powercat 1.10
The PowerCat is not necessarily a boot you'd associate with a skillful attacking forward player, but Rosicky has started the new Premier League season wearing the innovative Puma boot, and is enjoying it's performance along with the likes of Peter Crouch and Michael Carrick.

| |
Smiljanic Milan (FK Partizan)
custom Nike Vapor Superfly I
It looks as though Partizan's Milan is playing in a pair of limited edition Nike Vapor Superfly I football boots, originally released to celebrate the launch of the new England rugby kit. Worn by English rugby player Ugo Monye, we've previously seen Wigan's Hugo Rodallega playing in these white/purple Superfly's.

| |
Edu (Schalke)
custom adidas Predator X
Our boot spotters found these classy looking white-out adidas Predator X football boots on the feet of Schalke's Brazilian striker Edu. A great choice from the forward player, who is looking to forge a formidable partnership with fellow Predator wearer Raul.
| |
Christian Fuchs (FSV Mainz 05)
Pele football boots
Christian Fuchs is the second player we've spotted wearing the Pele football boots, after SoccerBible previously spotted Martin Stranzl of Spartak Moscow also wearing the white versions. But we can't help but be reminded of a certain previous Predator incarnation when we look at these boots?!
| |
Damian Duff (Fulham)
Pantofola d'Oro Lazzarini Canguro
Duff surprised us all two weeks ago by wearing the the very low-key Pantofola d'Oro
Lazzarini boots for Ireland against Argentina. And the attacking player has remained in the Italian brand, famed for their soft leather uppers, as he put in a great performance against Manchester United and in particular Patrice Evra.
| |
Stephen Ireland (Aston Villa)
adidas F50 adiZero
Craig Bellamy (Cardiff City)
Nike Vapor Superfly
Ireland has long been a fan of the Nike Vapor, previously wearing a multitude of boots from the range including the Mercurial SL's. But Ireland has taken the extraordinary step of switching into the adidas F50 adizero.
Bellamy made a goalscoring debut for Cardiff, wearing the captain's armband. Bellamy has returned to his hometown, and has continued to wear his Vapor Superfly football boots.
