Held once every four years, the World Cup represents an opportunity for the entire nation to unite and get behind the England football team. Umbro has created an advert that aims to inspire the country to get behind the national team through the two things that bring us all together during this moment, the national anthem and football.
The national anthem is the cornerstone to our national identity and this is particularly reflective through the England football team before they play an international game.
It is that moment, before a game, when the national anthem is playing that the country, players and fans, become united. The thoughts, fears, hopes and expectations are felt through everyone as that national anthem rings out before kick off and it is this moment that unites a nation.

Young and old, from all walks of life, each of the people involved react to the anthem in different ways, but they all use it as a way to unite behind the team and their country. The film features 18 individuals singing God Save The Queen, just as England's players will do before their game against the USA on June 12th, reflecting how the whole country will be getting behind the England team in South Africa.

Trevor Cairns, International Chief Marketing Officer, says of the advert “The national anthem is a symbol of our England football team and the World Cup represents a moment in time when the country becomes united through football. That moment, when we pause to listen or sing to God Save The Queen, generates so many emotions for players and fans and it is that one point where we all feel a sense of unity.”
